they're also shitting all over the "we've upgraded to 100% organic hosts" thing from last season, we're getting shown this isn't even close to reality time and time again, and so whenever I see those bone structures getting dipped in white goo and tendons being sewn in i'm rolling my eyes now.
I still have PTSD from Lost and my fight or flight reflex is kicking in with this show. How disappointing.

ya last year I slowly rewatched lost over the course of 6 months and the feeling was the same as what I imagine an abused woman feels when she looks at pictures of her ex that use to beat the shit out of her.

See this is my problem. That india scenes, i'm wracking my brain trying to figure out what timeline we're in. Especially considering dat bitch looked EXACTLY like a young Theresa Cullen, smoke a cig the same way, ect ect, so i'm think def in the past and this whole robot uprising has happened before (also cause of the robot insides in the face she shot, i'm thinking older tech). Got even more excited that they used the same 'violent delights' phrase.

THEN, i'm realizing well they found that bengal in current time, which was even more cemented in at the end of the show, so now they are either just being fuckheads with a bengal incident happening the exact same way in two different timelines, or this is just some rando present day bitch being introduced into a show that already has way to much going on.

Feel like this is either some fucking cylon like robot game loop that's been going on for millennia and all the humans are dead or gone, or this show is in the process of jumping the rails while the writers laugh at us.

If that shit is going on then fuck this. Last season they used a major, "fuck you" misdirect with the dude getting Dolores' attention like he was trying to get her back on track to her narrative. Because Theresa had said that just seconds before. But in actuality it had nothing to do with anything and was just to make you think that's what happened. Very lame if they continue to do that.

I don't think there's any chance the robot revolution happened in the past unless they totally shit on everything that happened last season. Ford was shown to not share Bernard's views and suppressed all of that until the present time and he was a total control freak.

Never understood that line of thought. The island clearly wasn’t purgatory and neither were their second lives where they found each other again and started remembering.
I'm convinced that decades from now when we're all plugged into internet v5.0 there will still be people pulling this troll job: "guys, Lost wasnt purgatory, you misunderstood it!" Triggering instant rage in everyone who actually watched the finally episode of that shit show.

And I'll still be pissed off about it. Longest con in the history of TV shows. And it permanently killed my taste for shows that want to play the "slowly reveal a mystery" game.

I hate to be that guy, but so far this season sucks. The battle tactics in this episode were Walking Dead levels of retardation.

it isn't the best but I'll give it the whole season to decide if it's shit or not. Nolan saying this season was going to be even more of a "puzzle story" just tells me that nothing will be clear until it's all over, and then we will nitpick the shit out of it because a lot of it will be dumb as fuck in hindsight.

Yeah, I'm not going to bail on it, but the reasons I think it's bad so far have little to do with the mystery and more to do with goofy decision making of characters(like the battle stuff people mentioned previously). I'll definitely be ready to roast it at the end, too, if it pulls a Lost.

Well last season they were telling a story in a mysterious way. This season they are telling a mystery in a mysterious way. So now its very convoluted and that never works out well.

the ultimate debate is gonna be is this more like Lost or more like True Detective

the loss of Sir Anthony Hopkins has hurt this show a lot, its funny all that "Evan Rachel Wood is gonna get paid the same now as Hopkins/Ed Harris" stuff, she is a good actress but she can't really hold a candle to Hopkins and Harris who MADE season 1 through sheer presence. Just like Woody/McConaughey really elevated season 1 of TD.

I wonder if the season ends up being a shit show what HBO will do, they already announced season 3 and we know Dolores is in it.

My question is who at HBO thought a "large" battle between the hosts and humans was a good idea? Most of the action has been pretty good up until the point; including Maeve's two assassins going ham in the actual complex. Now, we get a shitty fight scene with a ton of shitty acting that was wholly unnecessary and is picked apart because of how lulzy every part of it took place. They should've stuck with small group battles or at lease put in some one liner about host programming allows for easy tactics because they have some AI blind spot.

While I think the ending battle scene was unnecessary, I don't find much fault in it's execution. Are people here complaining that the hosts acted stupidly? They are all still following a coded behavioral script. Of course they aren't going to put up a fight against an army (of guests) with future tech, they fought like dumb programmed civil war AI would. Dolores didn't tell them how to behave differently or give them different tactics because she ultimately wanted them dead.

They're complaining because the humans acted stupidly, not the hosts.

There is also a non trivial chance the attack force is also hosts and were seen as disposable. They achieved their main objective which was snatch their target.

Snatching the target was not the assaults main goal.

Yeah, you'd have to not be paying attention at all to come to that conclusion.

The only reason they snatched Abernathy is because Charlotte showed up and hijacked the assault groups "best guys."

This was supposed to be the beginning of their clearing of the park, and they started at the fort.

This is true but why give them body armor then? If you are going to do that why not tactics programming?

Ah, understood. Yea I agree when I first saw the approaching security force, it struck me odd they were just walking like they had no idea what was going on, Sunday stroll style. Presumably they knew where they were headed, and what awaited them there, but just blundered on in, backed up with extreme duder quads. I guess you could make up that Charlotte , apparently able to command this team, told them to just run straight in like idiots, there is no risk...in order to create a diversion to get the secrets she wants....I guess....
