Watch tires on the HUD.
Every OEM I'm aware of that has implemented steer by wire actually still has a backup steering shaft available to engage in case the steering system fails. Of course Tesla being Tesla, it wouldn't surprise me if they skipped that design. It also alters the amount the wheels move as your speed increases, so as you go faster the wheels move less for the same amount of steering wheel rotation. BMW has had this as an option for years and I have always hated the feeling of it. I skip any car that has that option.
Not sold on the whole "no steering shaft" design either, I don't want to have the software crash and lose steering control and end up killing someone (or worse, myself). It's one of those Tesla things, they're like 90% cars I like and the last 10% is pointless annoyances like not having turn signal stalks, having to use the touch screen for the wipers etc that end up as dealbreakers for me.

Did they? Our 2024 Model Y doesn't have the ultrasonic sensors. Camera only for parking/navigating tighter spaces is annoying - less precise info and alerts about how i'm getting too close to something but there's at least 12" of clearance still.Tesla also was like “all you need is cameras! Take out all the sonar radar!”

So now we know that ad technically did have a car in it, just in the abstract.
