Yep I was guilty of this. I didn't know any better as an 18 year old and bought an already lowered 80s Honda CRX. I did eventually figure out why I was getting flashed with 'low' beams, and it was just a quick screwdriver fix.
Best part is when the dumbass Escalades and other big SUV's with misaimed lights get flashed and then they flash their brights back at you like "oh yea THIS IS MY BRIGHTS"

And It's like yea douche I didn't think you had your brights on, but your low beams are misaimed.

The wife currently has a 2013 Toyota Sequoia and we're thinking about getting into a Toyota Highlander Hybrid. Anyone running a Highlander that can give me an opinion? The sequoia has been a great rig, but we don't need that much room nor do we need the V8.

My wife's parents, and both of her sister's families have Highlanders in the '21 or '22 model years. I think they're all hybrids. As far as I know, no real complaints/issues. I imagine a test drive or Turo rental will let you know if it's going to be a good fit.

Sorry not sorry- would buy another Nissan or Honda over a Toyota…

Hope they merge and dominate

Depends on who is buying who, Nissan is owned by a French company (I think?), but they are not owned by Japanese anymore if I remember correctly and that's why their quality is dogshit.

Since we're on the topic, anyone use their auto high beams? Tried it on some back roads but I'm old enough to not trust new shit and feel like I'm just going to end up nuking peoples orbital sockets if I turn it on.

They worked well on our model 3 and now model Y.

I have it for the first time on my F150. It works really well and gets the high beams off before it's a problem. I'm really liking it and use it all the time.

Nissan and Renault had a mutual tie up that was essentially dominated by Renault (their shares were voting while Nissan's weren't). The former CEO, Ghosn, was essentially arrested to prevent a complete purchase. Since then, the two companies have been unwinding their relationship and both have been selling off their shares.

Honda currently dominates Nissan from a market cap perspective, so, would think they'd be in the driver's seat. That said, I don't really see the point of a full scale merger. Their products are essentially in the same space and, frankly, Honda's are almost universally better. This talk feels like 2008 when there was talk of GM and Chrysler merging.

Nissan and Honda already have some technology development agreement, my guess is, at the most, this gets expanded.

In the vehicles I've driven with them, they work really well, but, like you, I can't bring myself to trust them. It ends up being a distraction for me since I get hyper focused on turning them off in some corner case where they don't work correctly, so, I leave it off.

I imagine it will start with platform and propulsion sharing. Too many car companies doing the same things isn't terribly efficient. They are also getting Mitsubishi which is pretty much a booby prize at this point in time.

That was the plan but I've been hearing some issues with the Tundra's so wasn't sure if the Highlanders were having any issues.

I had a 21, V-6. There are no issues with them at all. The Tundra engine issue was limited to the twin turbo V-6 they put in them and has since been rectified.
