Would you rather you just have a button on a 2 min cooldown that was either available or not available?

Why not just design CC that lasts for a shorter duration? If you can macro it, everyone will do that and it won't mean anything...

I get you guys really like the game for some reason, but defending bad mechanics is just stupid.

I'm not defending it, but I'm not hating on it. I mean it's fucking SOMETHING different. Maybe they'll make it a QTE with random keys or something, who knows.

I'd be fine with a 2 min cooldown, but then you have to pace CC accordingly so people aren't just locked all the fucking time.

On the spammy combat, it is spammy, CC breaking mechanics aside. Every class(shown on streams) starts with an ability that has no cooldown and no ressource cost but does lower damage than everything else you get, and in some cases also doubles as a ressource builder for the class. This ability is meant to be used as a filler, everytime you're not doing something else, you hit that button. It's the "autoattack" button.

That means there isn't any time you're not hitting a button once the GCD is up. That is the definition of spammy, unless your GCD is long enough and even then it's still spammy(FFXIV was still spammy even with 2.5s GCD, but you didn't need to spam as much because of it). There is movement, dodging, using off GCD abilities and what not, but at the end of the day, if you're not doing anything important, press 1(or whatever you rebind it to). Maybe in endgame you'll be able to remove the ability and replace it with more situational cooldown based stuff and have a priority rotation or the skills would be so strong not doing anything during voids in your rotation would still be better than using the filler, but that seems a bit optimistic.

Really, it's like if you play GW2, and you turn off autocasting on your first weapon ability. Which no one wanted to do then, so not sure why they decided to build their combat around that mechanic.

Obviously you have a million great ones! Please enlighten us mortals!
...uhhhh it doesn't take an intellectual goliath to come up with something better than SPAM BUTTON, or MASSIVE COOLDOWN CC BREAK.

Off the top of my head, how about stuns knock your 'soul' from your body, randomly spinning and ejecting it a set distance away. Make that distance a 1 second run to get your soul back to your body and 'break' the 'stun'. If you're on the ball, it's a 1 second ordeal... if not... longer. Basically the same as their disarm mechanic... but in reverse.

Who exactly in combat in any other MMO just hits the button when it comes off cooldown? Everyone I have ever seen and known is always mashing that button waiting for it to come off cooldown. @Quaid That sounds even more annoying then mashing a button lol.

Like you just said, that's already in game. For disarm.

Well then you are gonna hate the rest of their CC mechanics.

They already said what they were and it really isn't a big deal for me. I like action combat. Yours is similar to disarm but trying to find my body in a scrum isn't my cup of tea.

Just watch some of the streams and you can see the draw distance thing is a user problem and not a game one. As for spammy combat, we got some people here who want 9 second cast times on everything and a 10 min global cooldown. They say that shit about every fucking game. This is the same group that cries about not wanting to get carpel tunnel yet hates Teamspeak and wants to fucking type everything.
what kind of user problem? has nothing to do with actual system specs.

All the streams showed huge draw distances. You could see to the horizon except for a few zones. Either the setting are set lower or I could be wrong and it could be a bug. The game was designed with huge draw distances in mind, it's why they chose the cartoony look that a lot of people here hate. Didn't mean to make it seem like you were doing something wrong, just goes against everything I have watched.

i enjoyed the disorient until i realized it didnt disable mouse look. so you just tap 4 buttons until you find the forward one and move with your mouse the entire time.

for the only original thing about the game, they didnt think it out very well.

when you get blinded, you just attack with a field aoe in front of you...which all the auto attacks are. it could be a thing if your using that autolock on target but thats a retarded option to have for their combat to start with and i cant fathom it remaining until release.

Curious about the levels with different gravity effects. Has anyone tried them yet? Did you enjoy it?

If that has been answered before and I missed it then oops, my bad. But that is the only thing remotely interesting to me in this game, so it is hard to weed through the rest of the info.

Cool grav effects are fun enough that I would pay the entry fee for this game just to check it out, even if it was just a gimmick. So again, have they released those levels to the beta? And did you like them? Or was it just a bait and switch, never to be delivered..

At least in the early Exile zones, there's areas with the blue crystals. Being near to the crystals gives you the low gravity buff which lets you do the crazy high jumps, pretty fun as theres often high areas you need to climb using the buff. Not sure in the later levels, tho I assume its there too.
