Curious about the levels with different gravity effects. Has anyone tried them yet? Did you enjoy it?

If that has been answered before and I missed it then oops, my bad. But that is the only thing remotely interesting to me in this game, so it is hard to weed through the rest of the info.

Cool grav effects are fun enough that I would pay the entry fee for this game just to check it out, even if it was just a gimmick. So again, have they released those levels to the beta? And did you like them? Or was it just a bait and switch, never to be delivered..
Watched a little streaming today and it showed Towliee doing a quest in starter area of dominion and he got a buff that let him jump super high + slow fall to jump up onto cliff and talk to a NPC. I assume its stuff like that. Quest/areas here and there where it's allowed. Not sure I would pay for a game and play it for just these quest, kinda seems like a huge waste if you do that.

Granted who knows if there's large areas or zones later that are entirely that way, but I wouldn't bet on it. Though you may get some boss fights with it(Think kael'thas in TBC).

@ Byr. You are trying to hard.

If you look earlier in this thread I kept saying this game was garbage. I'm so glad people are finally seeing it.

Toweliee's stream was hilarious. Everyone was saying love them 2002 graphics bro.

There needs to be enough differentiation from WoW for players to jump from that game to another MMO. Why would anyone want to leave such a great game for something new, if that something new looks, acts, and feels generally the same?

Of course I'm talking about Diablo 3, not Wildstar.

I don't think you have to try to draw WoWs current players away from them anymore. There is enough market of players not playing WoW and this is different enough from current WoW to counter the "well why not just go back to WoW instead". Not to mention some people are just tired of that game, not that actual mechanics/gameplay etc.

One of the better areas in the game is the 30-34 Dominion area, in which you go to a moon with half gravity that affects the entire map (not just a buff, it's on all the time and can't be taken off). It's fun since it changes things up but I could see how someone might find it to be a little gimmicky. It does bring some slight changes to combat - for instance engineers get an ability that propels them backwards and snares the npcs in front of them that's mostly used as a PVP escape ability however with the changes to gravity and the launch distance that the ability gets because of the gravity effect, it becomes useful to use in PVE in that area. Plus you can hoverboard jump over the exile camp and that never gets old. The map also has a bunch of more unique aspects to it (a ship mini game, dead space rip off, a mech pilot mini game). I certainly wouldn't think that it's enough to purchase a game over but it does introduce some interesting elements - it'd also make for a killer PVP map if done right!

oh god voldeth why do you tease me so, I'm almost to that and it sounds fun. Can't imagine that kinda of zone on a pvp server :p

Btw someone might remove that since its part of NDA still.

Whelp, hopefully within the next few months, they can get everything into order. My thirst for a new MMO that isn't WoW is killing me.

So this is the next failure coming up in the mmo genre. An awesome combination of WoW and GW2.

1/2mil box sales and dead in 3/6 months?

Fuck everyone for supporting this garbage and allowing game devs to keep profiting off of lazy uninspired shit.

I was really inclined to play this but the thought of it needing more button presses than WoW is quite the turn off.

Couple questions that im too lazy to check out - Does this have dynamic events like GW2 or WoW's Timeless Isle? if so are they more random location wise or in general areas.

People having fun with things I don't like is wrong!
Make sure to buy the 150$ collectors edition. People will be super jealous when the game is f2p at the end of the year and your collectors edition pet/hat/costume/sunglasses/figurine/dragondildo cost 5,000,000 starpoints to buy from the cashshop!

Best thing to do is wait until you can try it. Only after playing can you see if you enjoy the combat or not.

Not really. There are a few 'zone events' on the map (you can see this in some of the streams) that usually involve killing a boss but they're not prevalent and can't be used to level up like you could in GW2.

That's the problem when you give people some MMO to try without max level gameplay scope : most of them will assume lvl1-5 gameplay is the same than max level gameplay. Regarding Wildstar and its infamous "spammy combat", there is in my opinion two major things regarding spam :

- currently one CC (stun) that asks you to spam one button like a mad cunt to get out of it. Personally I don't like it because it's useless, players with programmable keyboards will macro it and it then becomes an useless gimmick. This opinion has been voiced up many times regarding beta feedback.

- whatPyros quite accurately described: unlike most other MMOs, Wildstar "autoattack" skill (or filler, since it fills between cooldown-based skills) requires activation. Therefore, during early levels, when you have less skills to activate, the filler one quickly becomes a main feature of your gameplay. You'll end up 1111111111111'ing everything during early levels. But, for most classes, as soon as you hit level 11-15 (depends) you already have 4-6 more skills to choose and activate, this is when spam becomes less relevant since you use the autoattack skill only to fill in between cooldowns (though for some classes it could still be "spammy" if you don't like the builder / finisher type combat gameplay).

Now, on the other hand, I'm not saying everyone should love Wildstar because early gameplay can be misleading. I hate the limited action bar system where you choose 8 class skills out of 30. Of course you can switch on the fly between "builds" but it limits gameplay options too much in my opinion. Though even since last summer, I've never had any concerns regarding spammy combat as soon as I got out of the lvl 1/3-10 bracket. I think some opinions on this channel are misinformed, this game will definitely have limited gameplay at max level but it's as spammy as WoW or any other MMORPG could be in early levels, as an example. I have two main concerns about the game, combat gameplay (no depth, feels limited, too much gimmicks) and 20/40 man raiding in a market with WoW flexible raiding. I could be wrong, but to me forcing people into 20/40 man feels a lot like amateur game design decision.

One last thing about NDA : coming here and talk about your beta experience, implying or even hinting about it and then instantly denying it or calling for moderation is still NDA break. There is no grey area there. You should have read the wall of text before clicking "I accept", no wonder people keep getting mortgages from "Belzebuth's Insurance Bank of Nigeria" and then dwell into a world of shit. If you were dumb enough to register into beta with your rerolled username and then come here telling how you feel about playing the game, you're not a liability regarding Draegan's work, you're just a clueless idiot.

Combat is spammy at later levels as much as lower, the main filler skill is used to build up whatever resource the class uses in order to use or buff the other skills. It tedious. I'd rather have the "autoattack" skill be like GW2, inthis game you'll be spamming keys while moving all the time, moreso than other games.

I'm not defending it, but I'm not hating on it. I mean it's fucking SOMETHING different. Maybe they'll make it a QTE with random keys or something, who knows.

I'd be fine with a 2 min cooldown, but then you have to pace CC accordingly so people aren't just locked all the fucking time.
Somebody hire this man. Let's add quicktime events to MMOs, sheer brilliance. That like the best idea ever.

Not.

when you get blinded, you just attack with a field aoe in front of you...which all the auto attacks are. it could be a thing if your using that autolock on target but thats a retarded option to have for their combat to start with and i cant fathom it remaining until release.
Do they have mez effects and content where they are actually used/useful. Coupling that with blind and people that keep shooting is probably fun - god knows it sounds like raiding with my guild back then.

A mix of WoW and GW2 sounds like a damn good idea, are you one of those "EQ-emu 4 life" types?

The "no auto-attack but this one is free so spam it" sounds like TOR, but at least it doesnt come with the 40 buttons as well. GW2 certainly did that one better with auto-cast options for every ability (it didnt make sense on some, but you could enable it).

On raiding, I would expect them to be working on a flex system already/asap.

One more concern for me is post-release support. They are doing subscription and money isnt the issue (compared to GW2) but they said monthly content patches I think? For me, GW2 bi-weekly content patches failed in the end, but that's mostly because of their temporary nature. Would be interesting to hear what Carbine has planned, because if their post-release plans dont line up with what I want from this game I'm off after the free month.
