Wildstar Launch Thread - Server: Stormtalon | Faction: Dominion

For me it was simple: I didn't want to carry players and I'm too nice to tell them to go fuck themselves. I decided to quit and I'm not missing the game, which is a good enough proof that I didn't really love it.
If I could have back my old guild, yeah sure, the game would have been a lot of fun, but since I'm 40, super fucking busy all day, usually quite tired from work and training, putting up with unfun issues is not exactly high in my list.

Was going to try this game out this weekend but with the way things are looking I'll do something else. A few more months and Carbine should have everything sorted out.

I logged in yesterday after not having played for over a month and the game feels SOOOOOOO empty. I saw 2 people in 1 hour of play.

Patch 2 dropped yesterday and saw quite a few people on my friends list that hadn't been on in awhile. If anyone is curious about some of the raids were doing here's some shameless videos:

Considering rerolling Dominion, been attuned for almost a month now on Stormtalon exile side and have yet to set foot in the raids. Too many people in my guild not motivated to get attuned. Are you guys still looking for people Vold?

I was on last night and was competing for settler resource spawns with people in a couple of the beginner zones. Hell I was able to clear out a few +1/+2 group quests with people. That was in about 3 hours of play... Maybe no one likes you?

Yeah because people have to like me for their characters to show up on screen. Or maybe it's just the simple fact that my server is deserted. Nah fuckit lets go with yours, the more logical explanation.

We're still recruiting. We keep an open invitation to anyone from RR - you can get a tag but be warned that most of our players are 50 and focused on raiding. If you're interested in raiding we certainly still have some roster spots but whether or not you raid depends on how quickly you can get caught up and how good you are.

Since the question comes up from time to time we keep an up to date list of the classes that we're looking for at :https://forums.wildstar-online.com/f...ression-guild/but obviously you should roll whatever you'd enjoy the most and work from there.

Random question: I see you've listed both variants of Esper as high. I'm guessing most Espers burnt out in the first month and they're a rarity at 50... but are you listing them as High because its good to have a balanced roster, even though (to my knowledge) DPS Espers are out performed in practically every scenario? I'm just curious if this is a guild-leader "future-proofing" his roster instead of min-maxing for current encounters.

A bit of both. Esper are a poorly designed class from the onset but things having been improving for them. The issues that Espers have were never performance based (they scale really well) but their lack of mobility was painful. This could have still worked with some clever tweaking but giving them cloth armor was just dumb. There's certainly a role in Wildstar for a more stationary class but giving them cloth armor in a game that has the most unforgiving raid mechanics is madness. That's been partially addressed in this patch - they can now move while their innate is running and some of their ability no longer requires them to stay stationary.

At several points last night I was pleased to see our Esper chasing down some destruction bombs (thus allowing our melee to stay and cleave). Their damage isn't shabby at all and it's well worth adding one or two to our roster (of which we only have 2).

Healing wise Espers are exceptional in a raid environment. The issue is always going to come down to whether or not the player can keep up with dodging raid mechanics (as mentioned earlier when a cloth misses a mechanic you know because they're dead).

I raided as a DPS Esper for 5 months in beta, and end up burnout/quit the game 3 weeks ago also as a DPS Esper. One of the main reasons I quit is that DPS Esper is NOT need it in raid (or only need one/debuff bitch). The class also requires higher player skills than any other classes since it is very stationary and it is very gear-dependent.

To me, outside of raiding, the game isn't fun to play. It is just not worthy to wait a month or two for Carbine to buff the class. I have better things to do.

Hmm.. I wonder where all those stolen accounts that were spamming my mailbox with food asking me to buy 'guaranteed safe gold' were coming from.

You give the players way to much credit to assume they won't want to try and save $5 by buying from Jhonny Cho rather than Carbine.

Credd on my server has gone from 3p-7p and now holds at about 4.5p which it has been for weeks. Seems pretty fucking steady to me, even with China Chip selling shit for like $1 per plat.

The bots have more or less been quashed. Hacked accounts still bot, but I see less of those now that you get shit for authenticating. I've not seen an afker in a BG in weeks.

The light armor thing is a good point I hadn't considered before. I get what Carbine was going for when they designed the Esper: They wanted a class that had to be strategic in how it dealt damage. They needed to have a lot more awareness of what was going on around them so they knew when to do damage. The absorb damage innate and skills they have almost seem designed so that an Esper can decide whether or not to absorb a hit so they can continue to deal damage. And that'd actually be a really fun way to play the class, but like you said, they're just too squishy for that.

It does at least sound like they're taking Espers in the right direction though. They're supposed to get some amps and new tier abilities that do increased damage if they remain stationary. It will reward Espers for standing still rather than punishing them for not. This will at least give them some flexibility in how they play and not feel make it feel like you're at a serious disadvantage in any encounter that requires moving around.

Where did I say no one is going to buy gold from third parties? I say the opposite in the very sentence you are quoting. I'll rephrase: If someone is deciding between buying gold from a third party or getting CREDD, they're only more likely to go for CREDD if it's of similar or better value.

A new patch was added to the PTR, seems to indicate it's part of the third drop:Patch Notes

I'd like the game, more, if my server, Pergo, wasn't so dead. Scorchwing is up, but I'm the only person from either faction there. It seems like most of their server management/infrastructure is ridiculously antiquated.

I'm on pergo. You're wrong. The reason no one is doing Scorch is because everyone was gifted their monster hunting attunement by Carbine yesterday. And it's the weekend.

Yeah, no. Dominion side is quite dry and Illum is rather depopulated as compared to weeks ago. Exile side, you don't see the horde of Team Legacy as you used to and I can do my dailies without getting swarmed.
