This game has probably the worst combat in any mmo. Combat in MajorMUD was better 20 years ago.

It certainly has the worst combat of any action mmo. its really a fake action game, Its just hotbar combat with the ability to manually dodge, for all the good it does (or doesn't as the case may be). Its like someone told them action mmos means dodges and telegraphs so they added it without any thought going into either, so you have generic hotbar combat and a laser lightshow of telegraphs.
And since ws was hardly the innovator of the sprint key i don't see how you can credit ws for it. Ws is really the template of what not to do when making an action mmo. Its just wow with a dodge key.

I just can't take people seriously whey they say shit like this. I do agree it's not close to say Tera in terms of action combat but to say its just usual combat with a dodge is hilarious. All telegraphs did was tell you where your shit was hitting, instead of just "cone in front of you hits/heals for x" and you had no idea of the dimension of the cone.
I will tell you dps/healing this game(if nothing has changed since I stopped playing) is nothing close to WoW.
Sorry you like a shitty game? The combat is atrocious. They converted a hotbar combat system to some pseudo almost action game. In 2011 the game was wow combat with a dodge roll. That's what they had at pax prime anyway.
They launch with a game that forced you to spam one builder key over and over that combined with awful class design made it even worse.
I mean it's obviously all opinion and everyone likes different shit but I think it's evident the game was ass on many levels.

If you thought wildstar combat was good you probably played a particular class. It was ok for 1 class, I remember.
Otherwise if you thought it was good I dunno. DCUO was much better for an action style combat, other games have been much better for a more strategic style combat. Wildstar is the first game where I've gotten to level 4x and just couldn't be -bothered- to get to 50.
It was entirely mismanaged. Even down to the guy at the end saying, "Not that I'm blaming the fact that I have cancer but... I have cancer." And it's way too bad because you could tell that there was a lot of hard honest work going into that game. But when everyone has their own plan, there is no plan.

I enjoyed the art style and animation. The setting was great, the Chua are the high point.
The found the combat to be responsive and fluid, if not very inspired.
I don't enjoy combat that have animation lock like Tera and Neverwinter, but that's just a personal thing. I understand what people like about it, and the advantage it provides...but to me it just feel unresponsive and sluggish.

looks like game is going f2p, if you register a boxed copy key you get a mystery gift (1 of 3 crappy items) and boxes are being pulled from retailers

not sure its worth buying though, none of the MMOs so far have really made it worthwhile having a paid account before it went f2p. you get a shitty mount which will be vastly inferior to the cash shop mounts after it goes f2p
frankly i'm just amazed this game is still alive, ncsoft aren't exactly kind benevolent overlords

Going free to play...that completes Wildstar's magnificent fall from Chosen One to the dark side.
This pleases me on so many levels. I always felt like there was an arrogance to this game and its developers that was wholly unwarranted, and this feels like a glorious comeuppance. I don't see this pulling a SWTOR F2P turnaround; it will die the true death soon enough.

I had totally forgotten about Wildstar, the hype, and my lasting all of 5 minutes into a beta login. I just didn't like the graphics, opening 'story' or feel of the game. Who knew it had so many problems?! 
Do we even get surprised anymore? What's the last mmorpg to launch, build a niche, find success, if not at least begrudging respect? These big budget games are making Vanguard look like a success just for staying as a sub so long!

This game was pretty fun but I quit after a couple weeks because of the insanely large volume of people AFK in the que'd arenas to leech exp and points or whatever making it impossible to win.
Nothing was done about it fast enough so I just uninstalled, what a waste of a decently fun game.
