I think I said that early in the thread, but I expect this to be a fun month or two based on humor and production value, with little long term interest. Basically, a single player game. From the feedback so far it looks like my expectations are still on track.

WoW Clone, despite people saying otherwise.

I just started playing WoW again w/ a friend after no MMO for two years. WoW already fills its own niche, kthx.

I've been hopeful for this game, but hearing how questy and WoW-feeling it is seriously pisses me off...

Meh, I can't really say anything about long term interest, since its something you don't find out until you actually play the game to the end and see if it has something that can keep your interest going. I mean what mmo have you looked at and said " I will play that for 6+ months". Even wow, when I first tried it(think the cap was 25 or 35 cant remmeber) I had no clue I would be playing that for the next 5 years.

Will have to wait and see if there is something here that will keep me playing long after I cap levels. They've said all the right things for me (multiple styles of pvp, raids , housing) but will see how that pans out.

Uh you are just now figuring this out? They have been pretty transparent what their game was going to be for quite a long time.

A lot is rather WoW-ish, but the combat is a pretty different animal.

If Guild Wars 2 brought combat a step away from WoW "point & click" style, this takes it another step beyond there.

It still amazes me that people still seem somewhat surprised about the WOW quest based progression. People have been saying it's like that forever...even people like me that totally love the game have said it's a WOW clone with action combat.

For the people who played EQ and then vanilla WoW we go into games hoping we will be playing for 6+ months. But every game since has fallen short. At best you do enough in EVE to buy extra PLEX for skill training time.

Thankfully I am not a picky person. I can grind, I can quest. I can even do what GW2 did, which was questing, but I just ran to heart icons instead of ! and ran to any PQ I saw.

I hope for this everytime, but I've never expected it from a game. Granted EQ I went into blindly(only game I bought before playing first) and it had the advantage of slow progression to keep people around longer but since then, its been: Try the game first, if fun, buy it, expecting a couple to few months of entertainment but hoping it turns into long term.

I've been saying this forever: Wildstar is WOW 1.0 ++. More streamlined quests, UI, player systems, QOL stuff with a more "actiony" combat system.

Yet I bet people here will still buy it, then come back and complain about quest hubs :p

Though Like I said you can grind mobs if you wanted or pvp to level up.

They've been pushing out great marketing videos that elaborate on the Wildstar brand, not the game itself.

I would interpret something that's "pretty transparent" as being muddy. As in, not very clear at all.

This is for anyone with programming or game making experience. How feasible would it be for them to eliminate the quest givers and accepting quests and just have it GW2 style where the shit just pops up on your screen? Basically the same thing but less annoying.

This has been in the interviews they do this quite frequently already. There are still npcs though, decent mix.

no, they cant. engis can tank and dps. they may have some token heal skill in there somewhere but not something you can use to call yourself a healer.
