edit: wtf is "" - Deploys the Bovine Defense Force Initiative. "" I wonder...
Just a guess, but there are two cows in White Orchard that people exploit for gold at the very start of the game. Guards probably attack you now if you kill them, or they don't respawn after meditating for 2 hours, or something like that.

Edit: It's actually much funnier than that. Killing the cows and then meditating summons a level 27 Chort to kick your ass.

Yeah, noonwraiths are rough in general until you learn the tricks to beating them. First time I fought one I think it split like 10-12 times before I finally killed it. Doing it the right way (which mostly involves shooting the splits with the xbow so that she doesn't get to heal at all), I kill them in like 30 seconds.

I'm retarded and it took me awhile to realize that the trap sign was actually doing something. I had expected it to hold the wraith still or something so I didn't think it was working and tried killing it without. Once I realized it was causing the wraith to actually be hit for a significant amount of damage and not blast through you she was really easy. I think I was around level 10 or 11 for that. Didn't need to use the crossbow, could kill the splits fast enough where they couldn't really heal her. Think she ended up splitting either 2 or 3 times

I use the xbow to kill one because they spawn a fair distance apart. It's like: stand on the spawn point of #1, kill instantly when it spawns, xbow #2 right after, by then #3 is probably on top of you and you can kill it too. Not a huge difference, but it makes killing the noonwraith a little bit faster.

Jenny o the Woods was hard as hell, even at lvl 12 (recommended 10)
Axii also works.

Not sure how it is on lower difficulties, but on death march, I think mobs hit harder, you hit for less, but mobs overall HP does not go up. So since mobs are not HP sponges, but hit like trucks, they often oneshot their fellow monsters. Circling around a camp, charming one mob at a time can easily clear entire camps without you hitting anything but the last remaining mob.

And when fighting one mob, the cheese really sets in, which also works on hunt bosses.

Cast quen and skip dodge until you can cast a sign again. Switch to axii and cast. Quen will absorb hit letting you finish casting axii. Charm becomes active and you can hit mob without it breaking. It lasts for around 5 seconds. Hit 4 times, skip back three times (not roll since that takes stamina). That will give you enough distance to cast axii again (no need for quen except the initial cast). Even if the mob goes straight to you, you should be able to charm it again before it reaches you. There is no diminishing return of the timer of charm. Roll forwards, hit 4 times, skip back. Repeat. Can keep one mob permanently stun charmed doing this. It trivializes a lot of encounters, including hunts. Fights can be a bit boring though.

Also, charming enemies on horses will cause their horses to kill them in one shot.

Axii tip: You don't actually have to complete the cast. Just hold the button down long enough to trigger alt-cast (>0.5 seconds I believe) and release.

That said, I took all my points out of Axii except for the tier 1 dialogue stuff. Too cheesy and/or buggy to use the alt-cast imo.

You can also spec into both the Axii charm, and the Axii mob slowdown, and activate both on your skill tree and the mob goes into super-slowmo mode while you are charging up your charm. Makes pretty much anything ez-mode. I kinda almost wish I didn't know that, haven't had a challenging fight in quite a while...

Nothing is more OP than the Quen upgrades though. Makes the later fights trivial, especially on the bosses which are immune to axii hax. Quen, especially the return damage has health is crazy op. Prior to that, Axii is boss though especially for large groups but its a little buggy at times.

PS4 version feels alot better after the patch, especially the camera. Inventory UI doesn't lag as horribly as it used to either. Very impressed how it all looks/runs now.

Game is growing on me - I really like it now - but it looks pretty bad on PS4 imo. Maybe my TV is weird, but Bloodborne looked better.

Smokin coke if you think it looks bad on PS4. Obviously it looks cleaner on a beast PC but after last patch the overall smoothness of the camera and game in general makes the entire experience "feel" better if not look it.

It took me a few sitdowns to really get me away from FIFA 15 but it has me now. I only played about 8 hours so far but now that the combat and camera feel better this game is shaping up to be quite awesome.

Lastly, I dont mind if this game is a theme park open world. Yea Skyrim has a charm of its own and offers more random encunters and chance opportunities but W3 still rewards the explorer with hidden loot caches as well as opportunities to reveal additional side quests. Simply doing a side quest can lead you to another side quest via exploration en route to finish objective. That alone soothes the theme park pain. Then when you add in the story driven content it makes for a truly engaging experience.

I just enjoy not having ran into any mindless MMO-style kill/collect quests. I guess you could argue the witcher contract quests are kill quests but at least I sometimes get the choice to spare the monster if i wanted to.

They really shouldn't have pushed the sandbox ("no really, we're Skyrim but better!") marketing so much as the game barely attempts to offer an open ended experience. Personally, I prefer the theme park to the sand box, but I guess sandbox is the big marketing thing now.

I've been doing all the side quests and have yet to collect any bear asses. There have been a couple escort quests that made me groan, but the character development during the escorting is usually good enough to offset the shitty escorting.

BTW, for anyone wondering why you get 10-20% less xp since the patch: Blood and Broken Bones now has a 10% xp penalty on it and Death March has a 20% xp penalty. Pretty retarded since normal endgame completion is 35 or so, and knocking 20% off of that means you will barely even be able to equip superior witcher gear by the end and mastercrafted is out of the question. (The xp curve flattens at 30+, so you actually lose more than 7 levels with a 20% penalty on the xp required to hit 35). You might gain a tiny bit of it back because some quests stay green longer, but it would only get you to superior very slightly earlier, still well past the point of no return.

Had some epic Gwent battles with the chic in the Gwent Tournament. Round 2 we both had over 200 points.

Northern realms is the best deck. Use the free warhorn for artillery version. Stack that shit with spies, decoys, catapults, scorches and healers, as well as multiplicative creatures. Couple war horns, couple of sunny days and a sprinkle of heroes, and it's a recipe for easy victory.
I am still in Velen and I getting comfortable with the Northern Realms deck. Glad to hear if I stick with it I can eventually win the Gwent Tournament later on. Has anyone got the card collector achievement? It would be nice to get but I worry there are too many missable cards in the world and I doubt I will do a second play through just for that achievement.
