Finished up the game last night. Must have sunk at least 50 hours in. I feel like it's a solid 9.5/10. I felt like it dragged on a bit on the last third of of the game. Other then that it was an amazing game.

Not really, I'd say 70-80 hours unless you sink ungodly amounts of time into Gwent/hit every PoI on the map

My PC savegame is at almost 80 hours and I was just nearing the end of Novigrad when I stopped playing due to the XP bug. No idea how anyone could finish in 50 hours without skipping the vast majority of content, spamming space/X through cutscenes and dialogues, etc.

And I hate gwent and use the console command to win instantly when I'm forced to play it, so that's not padding my playtime at all. I do all POIs, yellow !'s, bulletin board quests, etc. though.

Gwent is another excellent gameplay to me, it changes the game pace and help me relax after all the monster slaying/surviving a daunting world.

Exactly man. After I do three or four contracts and some long quest sequences. Time to play some assholes in Gwent and win some new cards!

I'm going to rant about the most BS Gwent match I've ever seen so far, so if you don't GAF about Gwent, skip this

So I'm playing some random innkeep at Gwent(in the town where you track down the Baron's daughter) and I'm like level 8 or whatever, my deck isn't great.

Game starts with him going first, he throws out a lvl 10 card. Whatever
I throw out a level 8 catapult
He throws out ANOTHER level 10 card, same type as the first. That sucks
I throw out a level 5 archer or some BS
He then throws out a war horn thingy that doubles his power. He's up to 40pts after 3 turns and I don't have the correct weather card to nullify all that.

I decide to cut my losses, throw out a decoy to pull my lvl 8 catapult back and then "pass" to end the round and take my defeat(figuring he's blown his wad)

Well, he doesn't pass and take the vitory, he throws out THREE goddamn spy cards onto my side, draws 6 more cards, and I still lose 40 to 20-something.

So now we're going into round 2, I already have 1 loss. I'm down to 7 cards and he's all the way back up to 10. Not looking good.

He goes first since he won, throws out a medic card that pulls ANOTHER card out of his discard pile and he's instaly at like 15pts after his 1st turn, and at that point I just forfeit the game.

Holy god what a beat down. I'm not playing that dude again anytime soon

also, fuck NPCs that have monster decks and all their crazy swarm/pack cards or whatever they are that pulls 3-4 more cards out of the deck when played. Played one NPC with a monster deck and after 4 turns he had about 12 cards on the field and 77 points. BS.

The monster deck is probably the last one to make effectively since muster requires you to have full sets of cards or be at a massive disadvantage. On the flipside it is the most powerful deck at the endgame. Reason being the AI shifts from using weather cards more to spy and decoy cards. Decoy sucks vs monsters and spy's usually just break you even.

Monsters are alright, you can make them drop a shitton of cards on the first turn and then just easily clean up. Scorch is also pretty fun card against them, sometimes resembles Wrath of God

Vorph: ~70 hours on finished game, level 35 skipped most of PoIs in Skellige, did all the contracts and sidequests I found. Measured by the GoG launcher

Northern realm Gwent deck is still the best, few scorch cards in the mix and enough spies/reinforcement cards and I haven't lost in a while.

Time for some gwent!

I'm about 60 hours in, finished Novigrad and running around finishing side quests and POI in Vhelen before heading to the islands. I'm level 21 now. Loving every moment of it. Great game so far.

Used to use northern realms, but once you get most of the cards, nilfgaard kills it imo

I'm a bit torn on what to do now. I'm finding the Novigrad quests pretty boring and I don't enjoy being in the city nearly as much as the wilderness. Went to Skellige to get a waypoint for ease later but now I'm tempted to just not come back. It seems like I could just write off a bunch of that content if I wanted.

Guess I'll make myself go back with the single purpose of banging Triss Merigold. At least that'll be motivation...

So I just started playing. Is playing gwent avoidable for the most part or will it be necessary later? Because fuck this shit. lol If I can avoid it all together I definitely will.

It's avoidable, you just won't be able to do the tournament side quest. I just use the console to cheat -- winGwint(1) as soon as the match starts -- when it comes up in a quest.

Had some epic Gwent battles with the chic in the Gwent Tournament. Round 2 we both had over 200 points.

Northern realms is the best deck. Use the free warhorn for artillery version. Stack that shit with spies, decoys, catapults, scorches and healers, as well as multiplicative creatures. Couple war horns, couple of sunny days and a sprinkle of heroes, and it's a recipe for easy victory.
