"No artificial time gating" is pretty false. You needed alot of rep
Which you could get as fast as you wanted to. That's what we mean by artificial time gating vs "normal time gating".

Classic time gating is "spend 40 hours getting the rep tokens. Want a chamber pot or are you reasonable?".
Modern time gating is "spend 40 days playing 1 hour every day. Have a chamber pot? What for, you'll have nothing left to do before the Mt. Dew has finished going to your kidneys."

Perfect rotation was still piss poor DPS with WW in Legion. I remember we had three or four WW monks in EN at one point and I was just amazed that people wanted to play that iteration of the Monk. I was in love with the Monk DPS and Tank roles in Mists of Pandaria, but thats where that love affair ended. Last time I played one was Legion and it just felt disjointed and I dropped it from there. Was surprised to hear everyone raving about the Tank spec towards the middle/end of Legion, though.

WoW is pretty much Keyboard and Mouse, so you can expect at least a certain level of competency in even the most mundane of situations. Where as FFXIV has the console component, which brings in far more people to the MMORPG genre at this stage, rather than later. Ive watched some people "start" playing FFXIV in streams and they are just absolutely horrid with their camera. Would rather watch their character, rather than the monster and the telegraphs. Which matters more, Susan? Your pretty character, or the shit killing you? Regardless, Im still loving the shit out of FFXIV and its a much needed break from WoW.
I tanked NH through antorus on monk and no exaggeration it was the best tank I've played in any MMO ever. So much fuckin fun

Brewski is an awesome tank. I love the stagger mechanic.

I miss exploding keg.
It was still good in bfa but definitely nerfed into the ground

The problem with BrM was it had a stupid high skill cap and people could absolutely destroy content as one (or two). I mean in NH they were silly with 90+% stagger. Heroic i solo tanked most of the bosses up to and including guldan

Brew was definitely the most fun tank I've ever played as well. Especially before they gutted threat gen. Spamming kegs and infinitely rolling around entire dungeons to never be hit in my life was great fun even though it pissed ranged classes in my group the fuck off.

Their cinematics department has always been top notch. Why cant we have a warcraft movie done by them?

So PvE aside how the fuck did these morons allow PvP to reach the absurd levels of stupid that it has? Then think to themselves you know what, what if we forced some PvP on everyone with essences?

You take something like the Southshore vs. Tarren Mill brawl and with all the stupid ass spell effects these dildos have added over the years their own servers can't handle it. It lags to shit and back, then you get the issue of how many healers determine most BG's, than and these so called epic BG's are anything but, with the sheer amount of CC it's a wonder melee are even allowed in this instances.

I sometimes suggest Ion should be fired but really that Holinka piece of shit with his trackball needs it more.
Hey, when I said having a PvP essence that worked in pve was stupid as fuck, people here told me I was wrong. Seems stupid as fuck to me though. The whole essence system seems dumb to me.

Hey, when I said having a PvP essence that worked in pve was stupid as fuck, people here told me I was wrong. Seems stupid as fuck to me though. The whole essence system seems dumb to me.

The essence system is honestly garbage just for the fact that all the grinding is going to be rendered 100% worthless come 9.0 even moreso because the Rank 4's are purely cosmetic. It is a huge step up from what the game started with but honestly why was this not in the game from the start of BFA? This should of been part of upgrading your necklace the entire expansion with the Azerite traits just being customizable set bonuses to offset the loss of tiers.

The other thing is since all the content is gated it really does make the game an awful experience for alts and/or rolling new classes in general. At least it's a step better than legion where you grinded for specs specifically. Really the more I compare retail to Classic the more you can see all the bloated systems and pre-defined game play added.

Everyone has to do the same routine at least on a basic level.

  • Grind you Islands for your Azerite Bonus - Weekly
  • Do your missions from your boat mission table
  • Make sure you do your dailies and WQ's - Reinforced doubly in Nazjatar and Mechagon
  • Make sure you have your +10 dungeon for your weekly reward
  • If you care about PvP make sure you grind out your weekly conquest for end of week reward.
  • Do your daily emissary quest
  • Do your bonus event - Timewalking/4 Mythics/PvP whatever it is for the week.
  • Clear your Raid for the week possibly on 4 different difficulties of maximize rewards.

Now multiply the above with however many characters you are interested in playing. Now do you have to do all of the above? No, but if you want to maximize your return on time spent you bet your ass you do. Now that you are done with the above you are able to play the game however you feel like, although chances are you are burnt out and don't want to do any of the other shit in the game at a heavily decreased rate of return.

Some of the other stuff you notice again is just how bad PvP is in the game overall, they have added so many abilities to certain classes that it really does become stupid with hyper mobility, self heals, and sheer number of CC's. Then you take something like the Brawl system as I mentioned previously the (Tauren Mill vs. Southshore) 40v40, or Ashran BG they simply are so poorly coded in retail that the game cannot handle it. Not to mention that you just end up with a standoff of people casting AOE nonstop while the game lags and whichever team has enough idiot melee who are willing to run forward and die loses.

As pretty as giant sparkles and shiny shit is to impress retards it makes for a shit game experience when blizzards end of the code cannot keep up.

So again you take classic and you can see hundreds of people and for whatever reason there is no lag, spell effects aren't out of control, and the pace of the game has some meaning. Classes have weaknesses, mana for casters is a huge and important part of PvP since their front load damage, heals, etc. come with an eventual drawback.

I think most of the gating is to keep people playing 1 or 2 hours daily. That's their goal. Get you to log in every day. That's the crack they are selling. Though most of the things you have on the list aren't even remotely required and go away for alts in a month or two. Islands are actually a bad way to get azerite. They also aren't fun. They were what I was most excited for when the expansion got announced. A 3 man group content that didn't require roles? Sounds awesome but in execution it's awful.

I like the dungeons and I like the raids. It's what I play the game for. Emissaries aren't really needed but you can do them every 3 days and it takes like a half hour. You can get away in this expansion mostly doing the things you enjoy and skipping the rest. Unless you are a try hard and need to finish everything, the game is really accessible at the moment. Except essences which you might have to do content you don't want to do. That's why I think the system is awful. It forces you to play content you don't want to play.

Grinding other specs in Legion was fast, though. Everything in bfa is a massive step backwards from Legion. The grinds are much longer and far more worthless. Hell, I probably won't get flying before my sub runs out in 2 months. At this time in Legion, I had 6 max level classes. Now I have 1, and 1 level 114 and negative desire to level anything else.

The other thing with PvP in this game and grinding shit out is some classes are just immensely more enjoyable to play do to the rejected ass pirates that are in charge at Blizzard. Doing some battlegrounds on my warrior better have a healer attached to your dick or else you might as well enjoy the graveyard you worthless piece of shit, but if I want to play on my mage or Demon Hunter well baby feel free to shit in people's mouths because you are a completely OP broken dicksucker.

It's amazing for paladins, specifically for running old content. Speed boost to freedom as ret or longer mount for prot is pretty great.

Also PvP is fine on every class as long as you have cooldowns up. Welcome to pvp of the last 3 expansions.

but I fucking destroy retards as ret

PvP is in a pretty good place. I understand your 380 warrior is getting its shit pushed in but it's honestly in a good place. The only stupid as fuck thing that you even mention is the self healing. I have no idea why every spec, especially dps, has absurd self healing that can literally put you back at 100% no problem, and there's usually no real counter for most of the specs to deal with it.

Server stability has been an issue though ever since around 7.3. I don't know what they did but 40v40s are completely unplayable. I'm fine with the boring gameplay of it, it's how people have always done massive group PvP, but the servers not being able to handle it is insane. ESPECIALLY since Epic BGs are literally their own separated thing, how do they not just.. have more resources for those?
