Heh, one of the better additions to the game and they take it out.
You can get a Toy (for Night Fae at least) that ports you to the Heart. It actually influenced my decision to stick with my mage for main in the expansion owing to the transportation options that mages bring to the table. You would otherwise pretty much have to bind yourself to Oribos in order to facilitate transport to both Auction Houses as well as the different planes, or bind yourself to your Covenant base-of-operations and then need Oribos becomes a layover for any other transport. I thought they would at least give you a hearthstone for your covenant like the Dalaran Hearthstone from Legion.
Yeah I was thinking this. I bet it's a lot of the same people too.WoW players: Why does the world feel so small and empty?
Also WoW players: Why can't I instantly travel everywhere?
Unlockable travel options is good in that case, like the Suramar teleporters. The problem is that ratio diminishes over time - perceived reward is lower as you play the game longer, but the travel time remains the same, at which point the travel time becomes a barrier that starts to outweigh the reward. This happens in every MMO ever created, including EQ1. Getting to NToV was interesting the first few times, then it became a massive fucking chore because you were running for 30+ minutes into the middle of nowhere, then you had to run forever inside the dungeon.
This is a good point, if you have multiple Hearthstones then why not have the whistle?I think that is what made the flight whistle so popular. I have no issue with taking some time to get somewhere, my biggest issue is the 'back again' part of 'there and back again'. This is especially annoying in this expansion because it has the same sort of WQ remoteness that we did in the previous two, but without the generally efficient layout or central transportation scheme. I go and do a WQ in Revendreth, for example, and at the end I'm in the middle of nowhere facing some arbitrarily annoying cliffs or whatever.

Because basically, each expansion is a new game, designed independently from each other. It's not World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, it's actually World of Warcraft 9: Into the Shadowlands. It probably begins with a general session "okay, what do we include in this sequel?" (even if the word sequel is not uttered, it's the mindset that counts).Well, it's also a QoL improvement that basically everyone appreciated. In fact, I think most of the playerbase would have accepted never having flying again as long as we could use the flight whistle. It's always a headscratcher why they give players these QoL improvements only to take them away.
