The really weird thing is they removed fist weaving only to switch Disc priest healing into the same kind of do damage to heal people mode which makes the changes to mistewavers seem extra pointless. Sure I did not use fistweaving a ton in raids but on some parts of fights it was handy and it made soloing really pretty fun. I quite enjoyed fistweaving my way to 100 maybe not as fast as going pure dps but it was like god mode for the amount of self healing I was generating.Monks are already one of the least played classes and unless they're buffed into FOTM level they're going to go extinct in Legion. Those changes make absolutely zero sense to me. The two Monks in our raiding core decided they were rerolling for Legion the moment those changes were outlined.
The Mistweaver stuff is the most puzzling to me. I had a Monk healer alt I was playing just to do something different and I loved it. Why take away features? To normalize healers? Then what the hell is up with the disc changes? Just puzzling all around.
One of my best memories of WoD was when I solod the last %s of that big Kologarn-like boss in Mythic BRF after everyone else in my raid died, due to well-timed teleports and super strong guards (man I loved brewmaster in that raid). I am willing to go back to the idea that I'll have to be healed more though, as I feel the game could really benefit from being less burstyI wish I could play in Alpha, so I just base my observation on other people reports.
My class (monk) is going to suck large hairy dicks, this because I don't play Windwalker and don't give a fuck about it in general, but the pruning of Brewmaster skills and the complete shitty abominable redesign of Mistweaver, makes me want to kick in the balls the designers until they end up in their throat, so they can choke on them.
They made the most fun healer (MoP mistweaver) shift to a mediocre, but still interesting one (WoD mistweaver). Now in Legion it becomes a shitty generic healer, without any interesting mechanic, with the worse selection of utilities ever thought and losing the feature that made it the most fun healer to play when content was not extremely difficult, aka fistweaving.
Brewmaster is losing: Guard, Expel Harm, Chi Explosion, Touch of Death (why, oh why?) and probably a bunch of other skills which I forgot, even the fucking statues are becoming talents. If there is a redeeming feature of WoD it's been in tanking: it was never so fun before, exactly because I didn't need a healer babysitting me 100% of the time and I could stand against dangerous stuff on my own for a short while if I played correctly.
Legion class design has been made by a drunk dev during a diarrhea attack, it stinks so much of poo that this must be the only logical explanation. Of course paladins are never included in this shitfest, they must be the beloved children of WoW. Woe me for switching faction and class, maybe I should just go back to the orgasm that is holy/protection paladin (I should have learned during WotLK).
At my age I doubted I could get so pissed off at design decision for a videogame, but I truly love WoW, it's certainly the game I played the most in the last 11 years and the one I still try so hard to love even when design is done by monkeys flinging poo on a drawing board, I can't just avoid venting.
Anecdote on why it was better back in the days: the other day I ran vanilla dungeons on a level 40ish character. Having no run speed boost as a warrior, I couldn't even dps on most trash mobs, they were being killed while running by monk/priest/mage and posed absolutely no challenge whatsoever even in massive quantities. As a fury warrior I could even solo 2 or 3 by myself if I happened to stumble upon a few stragglers. Stratholme has been cut in less than half, Dire Maul allows for pulling half the dungeon at once, bosses in general tend to live below 10 seconds. After 2 or 3 runs I was so sad I had to stop.
MoP version of monk, was what excited me the most since vanilla wow druid (yeah, I know, but I love changing playing style and I didn't know better back at launch). Mistweaver was a lot of fun, it did considerable damage and could even do it at range, because lightning didn't suck back then. It had a lot of keybinds, that's true, but I could make it work just fine. WoD came and I felt it lost a lot of fluidity because I had to spam surging, wasting mana to generate enough Chi and Uplift with a casting time was simply a retarded decision (also ReM+Uplift got old after 2 minutes, imagine after 2 years).I really enjoyed Mistweaver Monk in MoP, not because of the overpowered orb craziness but because the overall flow of channeling mists and then using Chi was a very fun cycle that felt much more organic than other healer classes, especially with the low global cooldown.
Since that point they seem to have completely thrown out the baby with the bathwater in an attempt to rework healing multiple times basing the whole concept around other archetypes and then trying to find a way to shoe-horn in the rest. I really wish they should stop, decide what are the core concepts behind each of the healers that make them fun and interesting, and then work within that framework to develop the latest healing paradigm. Then again I think they have gotten too used to doing a wholescale reboot of the game system every expansion and no longer give much of a fuck.
Are you still horde, Kreug? If you have an alliance toon I can get you pulled in with us at some point or worst case can just tag along in a pug and make things easier for you.LF Moose carry. Will bring my hunter, he's fully heroic equipped.
I'm salty because I killed that fucker on heroic before I even had a ring and before that mount existed, back in aug.
EDIT: Or you can carry my rogue for lewtz
