As cool as the Artifact weapon idea sounds every single player running around with the exact same weapon is aids.
Yeah I don't care for this either. I get you can transmog it or whatever, but still doesn't change the fact that EVERYONE will be running around with iconic Warcraft weapons(well, iconic in some cases at least).

Your avatar lets me know WHY your considering a new xpac.
Yeah, I need to change that shit. I admin'd the site for its duration but it was destined for failure with the glacial pace of info release.

EDIT: There, I changed it, to reflect my hardon for spear-based melee.

I can go into a raid and every other person of my class/spec is probably using one of three weapons at my tier. So really there is no particular choice currently anyway so having a weapon that can be modified and upgraded is probably better than what we current are seeing.

Realistically the coolest cats on the block are gonna be using an older models transmog after a few weeks in to the expac.

Artifacts sound really similar to the weapons on LOTRO that you could level up and customize. If wows system is close to that I think it will be really cool.

Let's do a look back at features that have been cut from expansions (or announced and died separately). I'll start.

I suppose Path of the Titans didn't get cut as much as it got delayed. I'm sure this new artifact system draws HEAVILY from that.

I hope it's not the case that I'm going to spend a bunch of time upgrading whatever holy weapon I get for heals as a pally and deciding I want to ret and having to do it all over with Ashbringer again.
I think, from what we know, that you've got two parallel mechanics for Artefact weapons. You have lootable upgrades (gems on steroids) which determine your ilvl and stats, and you can use those on different weapons. Like, there's a ilvl 805 INT drop, I can roll on that and slot that in my Holy Mace or my Shadow Staff. Guess nobody will roll on those VERSA upgrades...

And then, there's the Artefact Power which unlocks traits, which is fungible. No idea if it's like an AA-type xp bar, meaning you unlock talent nodes on both weapons at the same rate, or a currency-type bar, meaning double earning of Artefact Power required.

But the stats part is definitively not shared. I think we're going to see various crafts providing various upgrades, so you're going to have at least a minimum ilvl on your Artefact, but progression is going to be "loot twice for both specs".

What I heard so far meets my expectations, except for more fucking followers, I hope it's a click and forget or completely skippable thing.
I don't really care enough about the demon hunter, but I like other things I heard, such as the 3 specs for hunters being totally different, if they do the same for rogues, mages and warlocks, I'll send them a couple of beers.

I'll pick a main class later on, right now I fear half of these announced features are going to be cut before the launch. I'm going to play what will seem more fun once class changes are fully revelead, maybe the hunter which is getting my attention once again (beastlord ftw).

Lore wise it's interesting, a lot of stuff compressed in a few zones and raids, but better than never seeing the end of the plots. Thumb up for me, except for the release date, which is going to be sometimes in 2016 probably.
I'll probably sub a month to fix a bunch of stuff, finish things I want to finish and get some old raids completed.

Raids: if I can do them once only for lore/quest/artifact purpose and then grind 5-men, they'll have my heart back. For real. Meanwhile I'll finish exploring Eorzea

From what they said so far in the announcement and subsequent interviews, the Order Hall doesn't really have followers in the sense of garrison followers, where most of your followers are a bunch of nobodies that you send to do tedious and menial shit for you while you're out adventuring in dungeons and saving the world.. instead you only get a few followers with whom you develop bonds, and they don't do shit for you, they do shit WITH you, they join you on missions (like bodyguards I suppose) and there will be quest involving them. They said that they're more like the Knights of the Round Table, while garrison followers were just "take anyone that will fight against the Iron Horde".
