Lol who plays with in game sounds on? Between music and voice chat, I've had that shit off for years. Probably missing some epic soundtracks or something.
I silence the music, but usually leave the sound effects on as additional cues.

Usually.

Now, when the shadow apparitions in Voidform started to make sounds...

I leave the sounds on. Music off. I want DBM to scream at me so that when I fall asleep at the keyboard, I can still run out of shit and/or taunt in time.

Tobe fair you turn the sound off because you aren't at the computer.

I hate playing without the music. A lot of combat sounds I have very low but MMO sound tracks are always amazing imo.

I always do my first play through of each expansion with full music, sound effects, and dialogue. Blizzard does such a great job with the level content, so I want to enjoy it fully. As soon as I hit max level and start doing daily stuff, the music gets turned off and master volume is dropped down to about 20% so I can listen to/watch stuff on my other monitor.

Playing with game sounds off is crazy talk. There are still quite a few abilities in this game that can be interrupted with stun/incapacitates that DBM doesn't warn about that have audible cues before they go off. Like the Frenzy on Scorpions in Nelth's Lair. The dude yells "Rip them apart" before he casts it, and it can be stopped. DBM never says a peep about that.

Also, for many/most interrupts DBM only warns you about the mob you currently have targetted, but if you have sounds on you can still hear certain abilities.

No wonder you nerds still wear 830 boots.

830 boots are for tryhards, unless you're wearing the boots you can buy from your class hall shop. Then you're just plain awesome.

OK I don't disagree that sounds are integral to maximum performance but that may not be the best example as you can also see the text box of them saying that...

If you have chat bubbles enabled. I'd much rather have sound enabled than that shit. Especially since:

What is Your Reaction Speed to Sound? | Playback.fm

Many studies cited at the bottom of that article.

Also
A comparative study of visual and auditory reaction times on the basis of gender and physical activity levels of medical first year students

Not only do we react faster to auditory stimuli, we react MUCH, MUCH faster. It's not even close. Oh and men are better than women, but we already knew that.

Doesn't help you in a situation where the thing you're watching isn't the thing talking, either. The aforementioned scorpions are a good example of this.

Furor rants were the highlights of raiding.
I miss hearing him yell "Why do you bother to play this game? You're terrible. Just stop it."
Seriously though, I'd be in vent during the normal raid just to listen, that shit was hilarious. The B-team raids where he'd just given up were also amazing.

As said above, the music is fucking amazing. The Horde Garrison music is some of the best ambient music I've heard. I'd listen to that stuff in my normal playlist for background music if I could find it.

The music that drops from Lich King was far and away my favorite.

I have music relatively quiet in raids. The world music in the Broken Isles has also gotten pretty redundant, so I generally have it muted. I'm also tempted to mute voice overs, since Sylvanas verbals always bug the fuck out in the withered training, and repeats every 10 seconds. Ctrl+S is nice.

Yeah, well, that's Withered Training for you. Thalyssra is on crack anyway. She doesn't know where she is, let alone where you are, and it shows.

The music in Legion is pretty lackluster imo. Turned it off about a month in. Sound is always on though, just kept at like 20%.

Elemental Shaman is a lot of fun (especially when I have a BiS legendary for it!). Knowing it will get even better in 7.1.5 is pushing me to swapping to it from my hunter, especially with how that class is looking.

Only 7.1.5 problem is gonna be gearing. The mythic+ Elemental build gears crit/haste (easy and how I'm geared now) but the raid build will probably be Icefury, which gears Crit/Mastery. Mythic+ build has Mastery last, Raid build has Haste last.

I don't like carrying around multiple gear sets =/
