i know in our little FOHverse bubble nobody gives a fuck about this, but do normies even know any of this is going on and do they care?
didn't some talk shows continue during the strike? seem to recall that kept it a big talking point. going by the zoomers i know, they probably don't know and certainly don't care. they are too busy with youtube/tik-tok/etc.
as live tv goes, like 9 of top 25 are scripted and 15 years ago a high cable channels would been ashamed of those 18-49 demo numbers.

plus people that just stream everything are not used to timetables, as in "the new fall season", the next season might show up in 6 months or 2 years.

I feel like it's a very different world now. I think people just don't give nearly as much a fuck. It isn't seasonal TV anymore, where people are waiting for the next season. Releases are so irregular that people don't actually know when stuff is coming, so they aren't missing it. Combined with all the streaming services shitting things up and people cancelling them anyways, nevermind te number of people that don't have cable anymore, all this shit jus don't impact people as much as it did in the past. There are such massive catalogs of stuff to watch that you can always find something

Maybe if these fucks actually wrote good shit people would care but the absolute garbage that's been coming out the past decade speaks volumes on why these dipshits can't negotiate shit. Collapse the union and replace them with 4chan source ai prompt generations and you're probably gonna get better stories then 90% of the absolute shit heap we've gotten since the golden days of The Wire and Sopranos

Some of my fav shows only lasted like 1 or 2 seasons (Better Off Ted) and shit like Big Bang Theory last 10+. The whole system needs restructured.

There's been a lot of good shows: acting like all writing is shit now is retarded. Fucking babies think television died with The Wire. The only real problem is there's so much more out there that means there's a lot more garbage by total numbers.

You're right. Writing has in no way degraded with our degraded culture. Don't be a pedantic. I'm not talking about small projects. I'm talking about huge projects such as LOTR ROP, Witcher, WoT, various Disney and HBO projects. These projects would have never gotten past story board back in the day.

Nobody said TV died either dipshit, stop with the straw man, and i also didnt say all writing. Dunno why your trying to pick an argument on a losing side. You can't possibly think the quality of entertainment has gotten better over the years. "OH there's a few good shows like succession so that excuses all the other great franchises that took a shit in my mouth"

People aren't even asking for much on these big projects, they just want serviceable stories and we can't even get that.

No, Fran Drescher was raped.

My guess is watching it happen probably fucked him up and he lost the taste for pussy out of guilt. "I can't do that to a woman!"
Whatever drives fags, and I’ve talked to a lot of them, it sure the fuck isn’t guilt over using or abusing their dicks.

You used Sopranos and The Wire as comparisons but they're nothing like those projects. Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad, Sucession, The Bear, etc are much more apt comparisons and just as good if not better. There's countless other examples you probably have never even heard of.

The kind of projects you're talking about didn't even exist in that era. But you want the whole fucking industry to crater (to the massive studio's benefit) because your nerd shows suck ("Collapse the union and replace them with 4chan source ai prompt generations and you're probably gonna get better stories then 90% of the absolute shit heap"). The first few seasons of GoT were the aberration, not a new standard. There's a reason actual great writers, actors, and showrunners don't want to do comic book and fantasy shit, by and large (and when they do it's mostly for the money). Scorsese was right.

OK Wire and Sopranos were bad comparisons to the shows. However Peter Jacksons LOTR, some of the early marvel stuff, GoT, Harry Potter, these all had servicable to master piece show writing.

But yes, The Bear is amazing and I am triggered about them butchering my nerd shows.

Last time? Yes they did. I remember David Letterman's Top 10 list almost always had at least one entry that was unavailable due to the writer's strike.

Dunno if this has been brought up yet, but the last strike gave us reality TV garbage like survivor. Can't wait to see what fresh hell this one brings. I'm rooting for AI scripts. I know we already discussed that, but it really seems like the best likely outcome.

Which day would these projects not have gotten past story board?

What leverage do these people have with the box office and streaming services losing money hand over fist?

With the actors joining them? All of it. Shit like Dial of Destiny cost what? 330 million + 100 in marketing. Why? They were not paying actors stupid money. Ford got what Arnold was making back in the 90's and the movies were 1/4 of that cost at most. The ability to create anything new is now impossible, so its the studios that are stuck unless they all do like Netflix is doing and creating an endless stream of Korean shit but most dont have the ability to.

They can blame the writers / actors all they want but its studio decisions causing Rings of Power to cost 60 million per episode.
