Foster has a TV career for him when he retires. Unrelated to this story, but so does MJD. Hopefully one of them retires soon enough to replace Ray Lewis quickly.

Hope they pour it on.. I'm not even sure why he felt to need to put that out there. Fire the dude.
Are you kidding? They'll get more attention out of this than 100 smart opinions. Skip Bayless still has a job BECAUSE he says retarded "counter" shit constantly, not in spite of it.

Lol yea. I never liked the guy anyway. He's terrible. and a sports show isn't exactly where you question if someone is down for the "cause." What cause is that exactly??

Apparently not..
Sometimes things can get out of control. Let's see if he comes back, he's just "suspended". Dan Patrick insists that the guys on that show are outrighttoldto create these arguments. Same thing with Around the Horn. Same thing with PTI. They create shit to argue about. Its everywhere on ESPN. Even the main talking heads on the biggest programs are following the company line in what sorts of topics to boost up to some degree. First Take is just the most over the top and blatant. If Skip Bayliss makes you angry, you are basically getting trolled.

I don't mind skip.. Most of the outrageous shit these guys say directly involve sports unless Tebow is brought up.. Alluding to a black movement cause and questioning someones blackness is taking "controversial by design" to a level that pulls sponsors from your network. I don't think anyone at that network would encourage him to say what he said.

Yeah DP is pretty aggressive about calling them out on it, and he's right. ESPN's days as a legitimate sports reporting station pretty much ended when they adopted the Fox News business model of providing "entertainment" with their own spin rather than just reporting news. They do have some great people working for them that are still able to maintain their integrity like Adam Schefter and a lot of their bloggers though. Mike Sando, their NFC West blogger is the best 49ers reporter in the business by a mile imo, and he covers 4 teams.

I never get to catch DP but he was always entertaining. I see what he's saying.. ESPN created the monster. The problem is they may encourage it but when it gets out of hand they will abandon it. Like they are doing now. The guy might not get fired. I guess it all depends on how big the story gets.

ESPN is pretty fun to watch most of the time, I wouldn't go so far as to say Fox news. They just get a bit over sensational. They do have 24 hours a day to fill. If you learn to filter the BS and take it with a grain of salt its not that bad.

A whole lot of people DO mind Skip though Convo. Surprising how many people buy into his schtick.

I actually heard this live on the radio broadcast and they made it sound like the issue had already been brought up in the media somewhat based on RG3's comments about being a "black quarterback". I wouldn't be surprised at all if they were told behind the scenes that they would be debating the point that day. That's why both Rob and Stephen A. were both on instead of just one or the other as usual. It just got out of hand, not the first time broadcasters bit off more than they could chew. But as mentioned, there's no such thing as bad publicity. This will blow over and they were in the news for a couple days which is a win for them. Its not like some white old man called RG3 the n-word and said he should be burnt or something. Pretty lame stuff overall.

Yeah, they're not full blown Fox News. It's more of a transition like MTV made in the 90's when they realized people like controversy and reality TV like The Real World. It's how Bleacher Report operates too; allow bloggers to create content so controversial and stupid that people are drawn to it just to tell them how stupid they are. People can't resist that shit.

First take seems to be a show about making a lot of noise. The three times I watched it last year all they could argue about was frickin Tebow.

A bigger question is how many people agree with Parker's points? Skip is smart enough not to touch that with a 10 foot pole, and Stephen A. Smith who is pretty much there to represent 'black' is smart enough to not cross the 'hood' line.

Anyways, back to football. Any predictions on 49ers vs Pats? Given I thought Houston would squeak past New England, not sure if the 49ers with a very young QB can get past the Pats in Boston.

DP has been on his soap box way too much lately about coaches leaving universities these last few months, it's been the first time I haven't listened to him daily in a while. I can't stand him just repeating himself for 30% of his show for 5 days a week anymore.

DP repeats himself a lot all year long. He is also on various soapboxes way too often. Even though he's generally right, I get sick of hearing him critique "the mothership" too. I take him in small doses and switch to music any time he starts to lose my interest instead of leaving it on. (I'm driving many mornings for work.)
