I was comparing the Steelers,alone, to the entire NFC North. Since that's what we were talking about and the numbers he threw up seemed to match nicely. I thought it was pretty obvious, I was clearly wrong. Context is hard I guess.

Not misunderstanding anything. He said that a division that has 3 teams with 10+ wins (2 of whom have been to the SB and 1 that has won it in recent years) has no good rivalries. That's not even factoring in the historical aspect of the NFCN rivalries.
