Not really were a threat with him to begin with, when the defense suffered injuries thats when it fell apart and Ben really did nothing to help the team. That injury did him in. Time to be put out to pasture.
Drop Ben, load up on OL maybe a RB in FA, try to resign Dupree and get another blue chipper on D and try to win that way. Plus if there was ever a time to move to a 4-3, the Steelers have the DL personnel for it now and its what Tomlin prefers anyway.

Honestly, the 1 chance this team has to win a SB with Ben is to get 1-2 more superstars on defense and as I said load up on OL and a RB to control the clock. The defense was 1st across the board last year before injuries, but I think they need a couple blue chippers on D to turn it into a 2000 Ravens level defense where it can win it on its own. With the covid shit, new cap coming in, not sure that is possible unless Ben took a huge pay cut.
Otherwise, its full rebuild mode. Remember when Peypey won his final SB with like 120~ yards passing and was way past his prime but still had that Broncos D? That's where we are.

Ben is better than that version of Petyon, though. But I agree it needs to be a big time D push. They have talent enough at receiver, though, that he could still do a little damage with the O. Clearly they're going to have to restructure his contract, though.

They need to run the fucking ball. Maybe you could get away with 45-50 attempts per game when he was in his prime but you sure as shit can't do it now that he's old, fat, and busted.
And yeah I guess the defense is good enough that you should try to hold off a full rebuild for a year or two, but no matter how good your defense is I don't think Ben is winning a SB for you.

is a real risk though, if he goes sideways those are real picks. Worth it though, if he pans out they're a pretty decent contender.
