Looks great, while I'm not into KOW I do like the whole counter for death and leave it all on the base idea, allows for very nice dynamic basing.

Fantastic, I'm hoping 8th edition slims the rules down a bit and not require 6+ codex to play a game. The models GW are coming out with are simply amazing and I want to play again, just not have to drop money on numerous books just to field a viable force.

The generals compendium was a hit so I bet they go all digital and go that way.

Agreed, I don't currently play 7th. I haven't played 40k since 3rd edition. But with the new stuff and 8th on the horizon i decided to start painting in the hopes of jumping in with a new simpler edition. The meta right now and stacks of special rules is just out of control

I only really played RT and 2nd, I dabbled a bit some editions after but I really just want small games with fewer models. 2nd was about perfect to me size wise for some armies. I'd love to play again if it was like 2-3 characters, 30 dudes and a bunch of vehicles but that's like one troop choice these days.

Kill team is pretty small model count and getting pretty popular.

Yea, I remember the first one (4th ed maybe? 5th?) which was pretty fun for a bit. Ultimately what killed it for me was it was a gimmick thing like you build a KT for one Saturday event thing and throw it away after. People tried to expand it past that and that's where things fall apart. Even if it's shitty rules, people want "official" rules. So anecdotally I've read a bit that KT reissue in 7th is pretty good so I'm hoping they expand it for 8th even more.

With a more robust system they could easily compete with smaller games using the same excellent models. Not sure why they keep just throwing away that game size to other companies or trying specialist games like Inq in a different scale (JK yes I do GW is run by idiots).

Yeah I told the GW guys I knew (used to run events in CA for a while so had their ear on occasion) that they needed smaller games to get people in the door. A mordheim like game for fantasy that required one troop box, a character or two, and something ogre sized to make a warband would be a great way to get people to start and army. Kill team or Necromunda for the same sort of thing for 40k as well. Give people some time to paint things up little by little and see if they enjoy the army before dropping major cash to build a playable army. They were so high off of their LOTR license money that they stopped thinking long term (and they went public, too, which killed everything fun).

Im done with GW. No sense going back to that abusive relationship.

We'll see. I don't think Bloodbowl took off quite as well as they had hoped, but that's their own fault since they spent two years pissing off the established community who had been keeping the game alive all this time.

Not sure what you're talking about BB is doing great. I understand you're bitter and upset about all the shit GW did to you but time to let it go. Play or don't. I will give GW credit, they have turned around their community management 180, and the reach out they have been doing is great with videos, faqs, leaks etc.

With that said, tread with Caution!

Its not as much in Cali, at least the SD and OC area stores seemed to have lots of extra copies. I bought one and even played it (out in the snow at 10pm for Waughpaca for one game) a few times, but it has not seemed to get a big foothold in my area yet. I hope it does.

Would love to have an updated game system for Necromunda or Mordheim. Skirmish battles - to me - were a ton of fun and my favorite GW game was Gorka Morka, because of the progression and evolution of the characters you have in your party.

There's an event for it at Kingdomcon so there must be some people playing it in that area :)

I'm have really high hopes for titanicus, a bit scared for my wallet though since it sounds like warlords might be knight sized at the 8mm scale. I heard they played a test game at the recent hh open day with full size titans and it was amazing.
