What guild owns the node your freehold sits in? What are your taxes? What is your recourse if the guild owning node increases your taxes beyond what you can pay?
Tell me again how I don't play the game.....
First off, my point was we are a small crew currently and pushing all the content without issue (yes we play alot). We havent killed the large raid mobs yet, but are currently entering a guild alliance to do so with a few other guilds our size...so the overpopulation / congestion / unavailable resource argument I just havent seen in game;
Second, a mayor of a node cannot unilaterally target our freehold there are dozens of freeholds and they are mostly owned by their own guild who owns the node. Why would they raise taxes to an absurd point and screw over every freehold owner, including their own people, and also destroy the trading in their city? Just because its possible for someone with power to do something completely stupid doesnt mean its in their interest...and if they did, they would be gone quickly.
Also, taxes are cheap anyway even if they are raised to absurd levels once you get to high levels and can farm a few gold in glint every 30min. I usually sell bloodrunner gear i farm at carphin for 10 gold +

You obviously have not played EVE. Short term pain to kick out a target within a geograhic area isn't an old strategy, nor is it even hard to weather. As you said, the guild owns most of the freeholds within the node. The collected taxes could easily be redistributed to the freehold owners they want to keep and foreclose on those they don't wish to keep. You'll learn.

I have not played EVE, and you are absolutely correct if that were the case I had not considered that. Taxes dont convert to gold or glint so they cannot be redistributed as wealth, however. They solely turn into building supplies and resources that can only be used to accelerate the node development. Cannot be traded or sold.
Honestly though, that type of politics and behavior is interesting to me and I'm all for it. I get some people don't have the time to deal with it. It seems they made some changes/learned from EVE, but I bet people will find ways to engage in this behavior. You can also just not own a freehold and play the game, lots of ways to play with avoiding the politics.

You guys look at this game like everquest?
It's supposed to be a better non p2w version of archeage and admittedly in my short (1 week) of playing i saw a very underwhelming, borderline lawsuit worthy attempt at it but it needs a lot of work still.
Warrior feels really good when you get some skills rolling and I enjoyed the grind for a bit but everything just feels very half assed in the world. I hope this game doesn't come out anytime soon.
A couple more years of content and polish and I could throw some money at it but not right now.

Had to adjust camera angle to see the named spawn, the two others were contesting and I went up high on wall for better angle - you get 15% kill credit if you FTE, the rest is DPS race. I won it as bards playing damage song and melody are way overtunred atm, though not the item i wanted. Also, i cannot upload images too large here so I have to clip them off like this.

When did you play, phase 1 or 2? This game is phenomenal right now, and yes we camp targets all day EQ style, sometimes solo sometimes group.
Maybe give it another try if you havent refunded, I can get you setup and lvled to join us on the fun stuff. Here are some videos ive put together Sloan Ashes videos

You can ignore me and carry on, it wont change my day or yours or your ability to engage here or anywhere else. Edit - Ok, so if you wanted to talk about my opinion of "game is great as is", I would be willing to discuss. Theres alot about the game currently that I consider to be what I have been waiting for in an MMO for a long time - open world no private zones, all items dropable and tradeable, EQ style PVE camps and named spawns, HARD to get items and scarcity/functioning economy, to name a few. I could go on if you would like...I am curious though, how long ago did you stop playing it? I am not trying to imply anything with the question, I just do not know what state the game was in a while ago as I only recently picked it up (early december ish) and have noticed alot of improvement just in this short time. Looking forward to the big patches coming up in the next week/two.
I appreciate the tongue in check, however you also discarded my opinion and called me chief. I am not a chief, so i took offense.
