Black Flag took a swipe at that premise in the DLC Freedom Cry. I recall it added a couple new weapons and was rather short, so I'm a bit surprised it's positioned as a "standalone game" now...not sure that was always the case.

Anyways I did a full sweep of Black Flag with all the DLC and still fire it up on occasion just for the ship battles. Highly recommend.

whether its cuz presales are horrible so they are going to ??? or because the game is buggy and they need to polish after star wars outlaws apparently hasn't sold very well, who knows

it would be absolutely hilarious though if they retool the game so you can play as yasuke the jogger samurai OR a new asian man samurai lol probably not happening, but its interesting to see these sort of reactions

Listening to players' feedback, and as an illustration of our player-centric approach, the following important decisions relative to Assassin's Creed Shadows have been taken:
- Assassin's Creed Shadows will now be released on 14 February 2025. While the game is feature complete, the learnings from the Star Wars Outlaws release led us to provide additional time to further polish the title. This will enable the biggest entry in the franchise to fully deliver on its ambition, notably by fulfilling the promise of our dual protagonist adventure, with Naoe and Yasuke bringing two very different gameplay styles.
- We are departing from the traditional Season Pass model. All players will be able to enjoy the game at the same time on February 14 and those who preorder the game will be granted the first expansion for free.
- The game will mark the return of our new releases on Steam Day 1.

Sounds like Outlaws poor reception had them shook. Preorder numbers seem like they were below expectations if they are just giving the first expac for free.

Why even buy it when you can just sub to their live service for 1 month and play it? 15 bucks instead of 80 or whatever. And it's going to be repetitive trash at the higher levels like all their other stuff so you can most definitely get everything out of it in a month. Hell, probably in a week.
