The color palette makes me ill, similar to how I could not play Morrowind because everything looked like a mushroom.
why would that be strange? first, pillars 2 was already deep woke. the entire team has strong ties with crit role. people weren't as sensitive to it back then, as they weren't just inundated with it from all sides nonstop. but it was there.Has anyone played this yet? I'm skeptical it's as 'woke' or whatever that people seem to be claiming cause no one has actually posted any video/gameplay of said wokeness, just vague like 'oh the male NPCs are weak nerds'.
Pillars 1/2 were pretty top-tier in terms of actual RPG world/lore/storytelling, and this seems to be basically the entire same team? Seems weird to me that there would be such a weird swing in to unplayable woke territory after writing characters that were as baller as Durance in the first games.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Avellone#cite_note-228In December 2013, Project Eternity was renamed into Pillars of Eternity.[225] For Pillars, Avellone provided feedback on the story[23] and wrote two companions: Durance, a cynical priest betrayed by his own god,[226] and the Grieving Mother, a cipher with the ability to draw energy from her soul and mind who used her talents as a midwife but was forced to flee her community after hiding the fact that the children in it were being born without souls. Both characters have been regarded as fan favorites,[227] although a significant part of the content Avellone designed for them, such as sequences where the player entered their subconscious to explore their shared past and understand how to affect their present personalities, did not make it into the final game.[228]
Asmongold covered some of it a few months ago. Pronoun stuff and woke developers. Search "Avowed" on his youtube if you really want to see it.Has anyone played this yet? lol yeah it does kinda have the same vibe as EQ2 now that you mention it. (highly derogatory)The aesthetics of the game look horrible and amatuerish to me, like made for kids. I guess if you liked playing EQ back in the day it would appear nice.
Not that my opinion holds much water. If I'm being honest I don't care who is making the game and I don't play politics with games. DEI this or that I could really care less if the game is good.Has anyone played this yet? Also, company culture has changed, as well as general gaming. pillars of eternity 1 came out in 2015.
the entire industry, and comic book industry went off the deep end from 2011-till now. constantly doubling down on the woke insanity.
oh, stephen king wrote nonwoke stuff back in the 80-90s, surely his current work is sane. bro what?
oh, brandon sandersons work in the 2000's was sane, surely he hasn't lost his mind.
oh, coraline wasn't woke, surely Niel Gaimon hasn't lost his mind.
oh, insert every single DC/Marvel comic writer, was writing sane non-woke shit in the 2000's, why would we think they all lost their minds?
Also, Obisian fired, and blackballed Avellone in 2015.
Avellone wrote Durance.

Game play is pretty easy tbh, story and voice acting is good and the world is beautiful. I've not experienced any of the bugs or crashes in the review above so I can't really comment on those, my game has been stable.
I would prob get it a 7/7.5 overall so far.
Thanks IGN
7 out of 7.5 is really good! Weird scale though. The gameplay is pretty easy tbh, the story and voice acting is good and the world is beautiful. I've not experienced any of the bugs or crashes in the review above so I can't really comment on those, my game has been stable. I've not felt like any part of the game has dragged on. The only overtly "DEI" thing I've noticed is the ability to use pronouns I guess and you can disable it, so its whatever? I dunno, I just care if a game is fun as Delly stated above, and so far, its been that.
I would prob rate it a 7/7.5 overall so far.

Feels a little jank, looks niceish. You can make your model non mushroomy or whatever. Runs well w/ everything maxed at 4k.
