You can't go wrong with Shadowheart as your romantic partner since she is open to pretty much anything. She is one of the few that doesn't get mad at you if you decide to fuck Mizora (she basically just tells Mizora off by saying that now you (player) have sampled inferior goods, you'll know how good you have it with Shadowheart and then afterwards she isn't really mad at you for being curious about demon sex) and she is open to sharing the drow prostitutes with you at the brothel.
The game patches also made it much easier to avoid accidentally triggering a relationship branch with characters that you don't want to trigger it with - the "friends only" and "not interested" options are much more clear and the characters will pretty much drop the matter once you make it clear.

I've learned to enjoy this game more if you just roll with everything. Don't research anything unless you really want some janky ass build requiring a specific item. Choose what you want and just see what lol happens. My abandoned run I am picking back up I refuse to use tadpoles.
