Long story, but the suit was designed by him to go against threats like Darkseid. It runs off of his metabolism, so if he pushes to hard, he dies. So the suit was warning him he was risking death.
That wasn't really my question, but kudos to modern DC writers for finding a way to make Batman less interesting.

I thought the assumption from the start was Batman and/or Lex study krypton tech to invent Kryptonite and their power suits, either together or independently. Lex and Batman working together would almost make this mess make sense. Plus movie Lex finally gets to be an actual threat, because he had the goddamn Batman helping him prepare. Lex would have the means to beat Superman, but Batman can trump Lex, that sort of thing. (god that sounds bad, I know. But Lex has been Iron Man for what, 30 years now?)
I don't really recall but in Man of Steel up until Zod stripped down to his underwear weren't their suits the source of their strength as much being powered up from our sun? They were wearing masks and shit and actually limiting themselves, thus why they weren't flying etc. Zod goes from choking on our air and bleeding out his ears to matching Supes in less time than it took Kevin Costner to die for no reason. The implication was Zod with all his military experience would have wiped the floor with Clark if he had taken a weekend to hang out on a beach in Florida first.
(haven't seen MOS since theater)

some thoughts on the trailer though.
we see troops with Supermans shield on their arms as patches, and they kneel for him.
Id say this is one of two options. One, is they are US troops. a special team assigned to Superman as handlers. This using the Dark Knight idea where Superman in an attempt to maintain the status quo of mans laws, becomes a bit of a government stooge. And Batman playing the role of anarchist. This also explains some of the rioting and false god a bit. Civil unrest and Superman struggling with civil war having no idea who is "right", and just trying to save lives. The second option Im thinking is the frame up job. they are Lex's goons pretending to be a Superman invasion force, to help incite said batman vs superman conflict.

You are 100% right, Mr. Smartass. Batman using tech to beat his opponents is a new thing just for this movie.
P.S.: The idea of Batman using Power Armor to beat Superman was from a story thirty years old.
