You are 100% right, Mr. Smartass. Batman using tech to beat his opponents is a new thing just for this movie.

P.S.: The idea of Batman using Power Armor to beat Superman was from a story thirty years old.
Batman is my favorite character. My two sons are named after Robins. Outside of year one (A jim gordon story) frank miller has never written one good page of Batman. The entire DKR book is one big fuck you to superman. Derivative crap warmed over Daredevil bullshit.

Dark night returns has fucked DC for 30 years for taking every idea the wrong way in that story.

Remember returns batman is the end of Adam West Batman.
Knightfall is what you get with power armor batman...do you want that again?

Ill fix this post when i get to a keyboard.

about what exactly? Hulkbusters are like Helicarriers, they always crash/lose.
Not always.

Don't you all see? This works, because comics are written for children and children are too stupid to know any better.

You are the first die hard batfan that has indicated DKR by the Honorable Mr Miller is anything less than a masterpeace. Superman is not even material to the story until the end.
I bet you named your kid Dick, becouse thats the vibe i am getting from you today ! (jk ! say hi to Jason and Tim for me !)

Batman beating Man of Steel Superman isn't the huge deal you guys think it is. Superman always modulates his power level to his opponents and moves at "plot speed" like Lyrical says.

Batman knows this and lays down an intricate trap where Superman doesn't know he's in real danger until he's incapacitated enough that he can't just Superman his way out of it. The power suit isn't there to overpower Superman like Zod tried. It's there to survive the weak attacks Superman does until Bat's trap is sprung. TDKR's version of this is perfectly acceptable.

Even though MoS superman is extremely durable and powerful and MoS captured that in a way that literally no other movie even attempted, MoS superman falls right into Bat's hands. The aspect most in Batman's favor about Man of Steel Superman is that that version of Superman isn't that smart, tactical and seems to have poor situational awareness. The other versions of Superman that are constantly dissecting their opponents mentally and are aware of everything around them because of super-hearing would be much more dangerous.

Now if Batman makes a Hulkbuster suit for Superman and punches him hard enough to win, this movie is garbage and Lyrical will admit it.

I don't see why you think Lyrical would admit it. He just showed a comic of Darkseid losing to Bat's super lifepowered suit or whatever the fuck. Now I grant you that isn't exactly your scenario, but pretty close.

If I'm not mistaken DKR Superman had just barely survived a nuclear explosion before confronting Batman as well, was presumably a bit weaker.

Haha yeah, I totally forgot about this shit I always hated too:

I wouldn't blame someone for say DKR is overrated. It's also hard not to look back at it more critically because of what Miller has done after.

DC is pretty ridiculous when it comes to Superman and Batman. Literally, every writer changes everything about them when they take over an arc, and then claims there is infinite parallel worlds in the DC universe.

none of that really matters. superman wasn't fighting back. its as simple as that. Bruce basically killed himself beating on Superman who just stood there going, "bruce what are you doing, I can hear your heart, it can' take this"
Now, the story has several problems. The legacy of course is a major one. As it led to Batgod fanwanks of course.
But, Bruce also trying to teach Superman a lesson in humanity, by making him bleed and proving hes not a god, makes no sense with Superman being a "government stooge", which he is in this because he refuses to be a god and impose his will on mankind. And by proving Superman can bleed, and is not a god, Batman wants Superman to start a war and impose his godlike will on mankind......... what?

In this thread, Lyrical uses evidence from implausible comic books to explain why people who are saying "IRL, given those power sets, here's what would happen..."

In comic books, things happen because the authors want certain characters to do certain amazing things. There's no real continuity of power levels or abilities, just generalities. The characters rise to the occasion even when it's stupid.

This argument basically boils down to us going "those comic books are implausible, and we hope the movie doesn't follow suit, we hope it's a little more realistic given their power levels." Then Lyrical goes "OMGWTFBBQ in AMAZING BATMAN #171 he stole the ring of power from Sauron and was able to one-shot hulk in the nutz, you guys are STOOOOOOPID WTF"

???

nope, there are 52 well defined worlds. That's not what they do at all. They really just do not give a fuck and tell whatever stories they want to. Now the problem is that the whole thread of continuity is so new people just try to throw whatever "rad" thing they want to do with the character...even if it doesn't gel at all. Snyder does good work on Batman. But does it gel with anything Batman INC was doing? Or Detective? Or Justice League? Nope. DC needs better editors right now and its very noticeable. The early Superman run in the new 52 had the exact same problem. Morrison was doing salt of the earth superman, and Geoff Johns was making him aloof alien asshole Superman.... Consistency and Editing is pretty rough since the relaunch.

Anyway Batman in Iron Man armor kinda defeats the purpose and identity of Batman. If he were less of a malleable character it wouldnt work at all.

I was exaggerating of course. The point is almost every creative crew that takes over Batman and Superman change what ever they want about them in every medium, Video games, comics, tv, animation etc.Keeping very specific parts of their lore in tact. I.E. Bruce's parents always die etc. So trying to say this crew made Batman this powerful in so and so comic is pretty futile, and isn't evidence of anything.

Also the new 52 is something in the last 4 years. It used to be Crisis on Infinite earths! They constantly change everything in the DC universe. One day there might be 3.

And why 52? because they planned on releasing 52 titles.

In contrast Marvel has a much tighter reign on their franchises. Which is funny because on the flip side DC is very specific about any design changes in there artwork down to how many stars were on Wonder Woman's Grandma panties.
