Wasn't necessarily bad, but in the bar was set pretty high with the original show. Not as if the actors weren't doing a good job, but it just wasn't in the same ballpark.Caprica came after BSG, but it is a prequel. You're probably better off saving it for after the main series. It got canceled so it's not a very well put together show. I did enjoy it though.
Liked his ending. Yes he was responsible for the destruction of humanity in their Galaxy or whatever, but every time he ends up finding redemption, and feels true regret for his sins. I mean look at the last two episodes or whatever. He throws on a flak jacket, grabs a weapon and goes into do his best, despite always having them kind of a coward.I hated Baltar's ending. Dude causes the demise of the human race multiple times over, ends up with a harem and finally ends up up with his perfect blonde angel god sent him after everything is said and done.
only watched it once when it aired. only thing i remember is they based her ai off her online presence. which was something like 200mb(?). even back then thought how crazy that would be.100% I completely forgot about that show, and I guess I kind of tells you how I feel about it. I really don't remember much but I watched it at some point, but is it necessary to enjoy the series, absolutely not.
Yeah I vaguely remember it, I think you're right it was all about discovering AI, but it's so forgettable. I thought it wasn't necessarily a bad show but I think it was just some BS to link to one of the most legendary shows ever made.only watched it once when it aired. only thing i remember is they based her ai off her online presence. which was something like 200mb(?). even back then thought how crazy that would be.
The Cylons religion stuff starts very early on in the show.I enjoyed the first couple of seasons of this, but I eventually disliked the direction they took with the Cylons becoming ultra-religious. Given their origins as creations of humans, I found it silly for them to embrace the existence of a higher god so fervently.

Yeah I just had a hard time getting into the show. I don't like prequel type stuff because if I already known what the overall theme or story is going to gravitate to, why do I necessarily care. It's not that you can't do it well, but you're coming out from a weak standpoint, and it's going to be a much harder sell for your overall story. It was dogshit compared to BSG like you said.
It's only for hard-core fans thirsty for more of the IP, regardless of how good it is. I would have watched a Season 2 of it-- but it was certainly on thin ice as it wasn't even a fraction of BSG. It was cool to see Caprica in daily normal life (something Disney has yet to portray with Coruscant regardless of time period setting) so I guess at least there's that aspect the fans got to see.
Baltar was easily the worst character in this show. The fleet was justifiably paranoid. They even had a plot point about this where Baltar got a cylon left behind at Ragnar Anchorage without proof. The fleet needed a scapegoat. Baltar should have been that scapegoat with how weird he was acting. I'm not trusting my cylon detection program to a guy that constantly looks like he's talking to imaginary people.I hated Baltar's ending. Dude causes the demise of the human race multiple times over, ends up with a harem and finally ends up up with his perfect blonde angel god sent him after everything is said and done.
I've got a funny feeling half the people in this thread just want a show where they cold open every episode to Cylons jumping in, then scramble the fighters, spend 40 minutes shooting the cylons, roll credits.
It didn't say he wasn't integral to the plot. I just wanted other characters to react rationally to his delusions. Or I wanted him to put more effort into covering them up.It wouldn't have been much of a show without Baltar lol, even if his storyline did get stupider and stupider as the show dragged into the last season (like everyone else.)
But him having to cover for all his lies serves as much the central plot for the first two seasons.
You say that like it's a bad thing? LOLI've got a funny feeling half the people in this thread just want a show where they cold open every episode to Cylons jumping in, then scramble the fighters, spend 40 minutes shooting the cylons, roll credits.
I started rewatching it too, after it got bumped a couple weeks ago. I expected average acting performances and always thought Starbuck was annoying from watching it the first time, so no surprise there. What I didn't remember is them leaning so heavily on religion being magic that propels the plot forward so much, which was silly. The main writer being Mormon made sense with how stupid that shit got and how poorly they wrote the Hellenistic side of it.yeah this doesn't hold up very well, i rewatched S1 and i just started fast forwarding a lot and I don't think I can keep going into season 2. There is just way, way too much Rosalyn, while Boomer is hot she is an absolute SHIT actress, Baltar having sex dreams with 6 is funny a few times but jesus christ its like every 10 mins he just spaces out for 5 mins and its not that interesting, Helo is a shit actor, Starbuck gets annoying fast, they zig zag all over the place on Cylons.
I'm honestly not sure why I remember the show being better than it really is, I guess maybe later in s2 & s3 there are some great episodes but holy shit there is a lot of garbage here. and its not recency bias or anything, we just finished rewatching Lost and I LOVED it, its even better on a binge watch than I remember it being at release. Black Sails and Rome were also fantastic on rewatch. TNG and Ds9 are amazing.
BSG just... really isn't that good, sadly. Now its kind of a bummer to hear the reboot is dead, but then again it would probably be even shittier full of tranny cylons.
