I still think the original had the best music. Wish they would have carried that over and perhaps modernized it a bit with some electric sounds....

They did pay homage slightly for one scene in the first episode as I recall, background music when they're doing the museum viper flyby?

I watched BSG years ago. I'd love an edited version of BSG that was like, half the duration and got rid of so, so much fluff.

That was the problem with weekly drops. Had to slog through the filler episode of the week, especially after the first 2 seasons.

I actually liked most of the soap-opera character stories until they got weird and/or sad toward the end.

Ultimately I think the problem with the show was that being a product of it's time, it had to be depressing and have a weird ending for everything.

Take what it was and find the real lost colony and leave it to some sort of hopeful and therapeutic ending and if would have been much better. That and figure out less fucked up endings for more of the crew.

The OG BSG theme was the national anthem in the reboot

Being a product of its time is also the best part of the show. It's a show that's very clearly about 9/11 and the aftermath of it, at least until they get off New Caprica before the show stops really making any fucking sense.

What would be the proper watch order for this? There seems to be a bunch of BSG stuff. I never watched a lot of the show when it was out.

The worldbuilding was decent in Caprica for it's budget. I understand why they couldn't fund another season however.

Watch the miniseries, then start the show. I think between 3 & 4 is when you watch Razor.

There's another deal that's about shit on Caprica, but yes many times as I watched the series, I don't remember much about it and typically don't include it in my traditional viewing.

And I'll ask you about that other show, do yourself a favor and watch all of it. Some of the best damn TV ever made.

Battlestar Galactica works better with more wonderment. I'd save Caprica for after as optional.

100% I completely forgot about that show, and I guess I kind of tells you how I feel about it. I really don't remember much but I watched it at some point, but is it necessary to enjoy the series, absolutely not.

I gave it a shot a long time ago and it was a slog.

I think the other standalone or miniseries deal that I'm talking about was stuff with Anders when they were on caprica after the nukes. I don't remember what it was called but it wasn't very memorable. It wasn't the caprica series though. I just remember suddenly it came out of nowhere, well after the show had finished and then I didn't really do anything to flesh out the overall story.

Caprica came after BSG, but it is a prequel. You're probably better off saving it for after the main series. It got canceled so it's not a very well put together show. I did enjoy it though.

Tricia Helfer was a total goddamn smoke show. My 19 year old self easily jerked it to her over 100 times.

That's about the only thing I really remember about this show, other than my eyes when the atomo jump happened and the pain in my heart when Saul turned out to be a Cylon.

The later seasons and the ending killed any fondness I had for this show, it's a shame as I was hooked for a time there. My advice would be to enjoy the long two part episode at the start and then to do something better with your time, there's nothing but frustration to be gained from suffering through the whole thing.

I hated Baltar's ending. Dude causes the demise of the human race multiple times over, ends up with a harem and finally ends up up with his perfect blonde angel god sent him after everything is said and done.

I forgot about those Egyptian pharoah helmets they had in the show. It used to make me wonder if they were going for an ancient astronauts thing. I guess they probably were

Wasnt the writers strike at that time they were on new caprica. Think that was also a reason it went off the rails a bit.

Still a great show and leaps and bounds over anything watching in the last 5 years.

Although somewhat ironically he has to become a farmer at the end, which is what he was trying to escape from (if I recall, he grew up on a farm and hated it)
