Since I know you all love pictures, here I am at snow ninja school. My front tire's actually a little off the ground which is why it looks so... Full. I'm running 5PSi.

No spray from the front is a good descriptor too

But yeah, I was looking at the carbonara (fat bike Lauf suspension fork), but if you can't lock it out... womp womp.

My biggest choice: is an easy century sponsored by a friend's brewery (and a QBP brand) with a party at the end or a gravel century sponsored by my favorite LBS through some pristine forest with a party at the end.

Hey fifey, I'm considering getting a road bike this spring, sooner if this weather doesn't change. Is river city bicycles a good place to go to? Seem to have a large selection and decent prices from what I can tell. I've mostly been looking at Specialized which is what lead me to them.

RCB isn't a bad shop, the guys in there are pretty chill and I'd assume won't screw you over. I know west end downtown sells a lot of specialized too and they always treat me good there. Plus they have the high end frames you can drool over.

Cool, Im hoping to get down there in the next few weeks. Grab a bike and maybe a trainer. Hills in HR are going to kill my very out of shape legs so thinking a trainer for awhile might be a good idea.

Mt Tabor is a good training hill, it's about one and a half miles up at around 5% incline and you can run laps or go to the top and circle the top while you recover. Once you get fit then you can conquer the west hills.

Im out in Hood River, sorry thought you would get HR, so hills are gonna be a serious pain.

So my 2008 Surly Cross Check got jacked last week. Feels bad man.

Thing that sucks is that it took me months researching before I finally settled on that bike. Not sure that I can just go out and buy a new one real quick. Also with the season ramping up, I feel like if I dont buy now and get in on some sweet deals then I'll have to potentially wait until winter.

I live in Vegas where it is pretty much flat so I think I want to start looking at single speed cyclocross bikes with disc brakes. Anyone have any ideas or leads? I know disc brakes are slowly creeping out of the Mtn biking crowd but aren't quite as widespread.

Thanks bros. I don't post much but love seeing the sweet swag you all post.

Oh, that makes sense. I was wondering what you meant by HR but it's early morning. You looking for a crux or something? If I lived out there, I'd for sure get a cross bike as my main.

@apex. That's a bummer man, maybe keep an eye on CL for a used cross check? That's about the best bang for the buck cross bike, maybe check out state bikes? They are kind of lower end but are making progress.

I've been looking at the crux and roubaix the most, still undecided on what to get really. I'm open to other brands as well. while reading up I seemed to have gravitate towards Specialized but who knows once I give them a try.

I've been keeping an eye out on CL but nada has popped up that makes me jump.

Thanks for the state bikes, I found this one:

Not too crazy on the color scheme, but the set up is perfect. The $1k price tag not as much.....

The hunt continues.

That Masi is ugly as sin and if he's flinching at 1k, I highly doubt he'll like the msrp of that bike.

If you are really into wanting a sscx disc bike for sub 1g, you are kind of screwed though. Mauve look around on bikes direct cause I know they had that fantom cross uno for like 400 bucks but it wasn't disc.

I had the same thought about the BD Fantom Uno but they are OOS for most of the sizes.

Ideally I'd like to stick to <$700 if I'm going single speed but after looking around I agree that finding sub $1k is probably not going to be happening.

Maybe try and look around for someone with an older model Allcity Natureboy. They have a disc and non disc version and I think the non disc msrp is around 900, the disc version is about 1200.

It's an insanely slow day at work if you can't tell.

Kona had a SSCX called the Major One a few years back but they don't make it anymore. I kick myself for not getting one on ChainLove for $500. There's been one popping up on ebay used for $500 too, but its some smaller size that's no good to me. Doesn't seem to be up now but I don't think its selling since it keeps popping back up repeatedly.

Well you can derelique my balls, Capitan, because I think it's awesome looking.

There's the Ridley X-bow too. $869 new with a carbon fork. A little more than the $700 budget but not much. Sora groupset is meh, but with that price range it's either going to be new+lower end or something used off of Craigslist.

The Ridley is nice but not quite sure I can fit my 6' frame on those size options.

Masi paint schemes are hit or miss with me. Some are subtle and others seem gaudy.
