What is interesting is that you somehow think this is relevant to the conversation.

Holy shit guys, you are DESPERATE to spit acid at people. Mist got tired of your "fuck everything and everyone" tirade, I place a link to a 1936 book that illustrates both how attitudes change with time and how we got to where we are, and already I'm the bad guy. Can you guys take a little break from spewing vitriol?

Enjoy life a bit! Here, I'll help:

Strange video

There is so much serious brain damage in that video. If there weren't tons more videos of that group calling for "Death to America" and
"Death to so-called 'White' Women", I would think its a prank.

TLDR; Religious Black Supremacists get into shoving match with White Female activist; outcome as expected and white woman goes to jail.

Or maybe we as a society disagree that it is a problem.
Yeah, I'm glad you don't think it's a problem. If you were an 18 year old girl living on campus, away from your family and support structure for the first time in your life and scared to fucking death, you'd probably think differently.

The big problem with this thread is you guys are fundamentally incapable of putting yourself into someone else's perspective.

You spent pages talking about how its no big deal if people get kicked out of college and its all a scam anyway. Yet you have the audacity to say we aren't able to put ourselves in someone else's perspective?

The 18 year old male in that same situation is clearly already scheming how to rape the child-women in the dorm next door.

I wasn't saying that. I was saying that if the accuser was using the 'I was drunk so I couldn't have consented' excuse, then there should be some repercussions for that.

This child needs to go home and finish growing up before she goes back out into the world she is terrified of.

Yeah, or we could make campuses safer. There's a reason we have a drinking age, and the fact that schools aren't enforcing it is ridiculous.

Are schools purveyors of alcohol? Are they law enforcement agencies? I don't see why they're involved in the issue of alcohol. They should educate people obviously. I hear that's what school is for.

We have what has become a national drinking age of 21 because of the correlation between drunk driving fatalities and drinking age. There was a time when Wisconsin only required you to be 18 but Illinois was 21. They would cross the state border, get fucking hammered, and drive back. Bad shit happened. A lot.

But increasing the drinking age to 21 to curb drunk driving was misguided. The correct move would have been to punish the fucking goddamn fuck out of drunk drivers in a style similar to what we see in a country like Germany. Our 21 drinking age creates adults that have little or no exposure to alcohol. We've got kids in college and the military with no experience running into the stuff and it's creating other problems. It's stupid. It's the booze version of "if you're a real man you'll know what to do when the time comes" sex ed.

So back to prohibition for college campus then?
I know my campus was safer when the on-campus bars were shut down in late 90s and we had strong alcohol bans into the early 2000s when I attended as an undergrad. We went from one of the rapiest campuses on the east coast to one of the safest campuses on the east coast just by implementing a few rules and shutting down the bars.

Now they've relaxed rules about drinking, especially for frats and sororities. What happened was the frat/sorority alumni from the rapey-party era told the school they would stop donating if the greek houses weren't allowed special alcohol enforcement exemptions so they could have keg parties. Consequently, campus is back to being unsafe. I would not want to send my kid here.

So yeah, prohibition worked while they kept it up. If you were older than 21 and living on campus (which doesn't even happen anymore besides RAs, because there's no on-campus housing space for juniors and seniors) you could only have in your possession one bottle of hard liquor and one 6-pack of beer, and if you were younger than 21 you couldn't have any alcohol in your possession period.

Are schools purveyors of alcohol? Are they law enforcement agencies? I don't see why they're involved in the issue of alcohol. They should educate people obviously. I hear that's what school is for.
Universities generally have their own police forces, yes.

Our university has it's own police force separate from the surrounding town's municipal police force, and it's own Department of Public Safety separate from the surrounding town as well. Our campus cops aren't allowed to carry guns, because guns are banned from campus, even though they go through the same municipal police training that all cops in the state have to go through. The guns thing has actually been a huge point of contention for 40 years.

Maybe my university is different because it's so large (not ASU large, but still 16000 students on the main campus alone) but yes, our school is its own law enforcement agency. It's basically it's own town within a town.
