I just can't see that Tumblr bullshit as anything but super, super racist. It advocates segregation while using racially charged language (whitesplaining) as a means of attacking whites. Except whites aren't a race and just a color of skin making it double racist.

I hope everyone is no longer using the wheel. Just because the early tribes of man aren't around anymore doesn't mean it's ok to appropriate their culture.

Also, has someone compiled a list of words that the english stole from other cultures? Can't use those terms anymore.

I get the feeling the Wheaton is at least partially playing a branding/politics game with his internet presence. I'm sure that he's at least 50% "like that", but I have to believe that he hams it up for the camera and twitter. Because that's what celebrityISin America.

I will admit that I was looking at the "check your privilege" phenomenon somewhat naively as simply a way of acknowledging certain advantages and perhaps allowing for a better understanding of people who come from different backgrounds. I will also admit that using it as an argumentative tool is not particularly beneficial.

This doesn't mean that "white privilege" doesn't exist, but that there are situations where telling people to "check it" is counterproductive.
