Now, don't take this in the wrong spirit but any time Tanoomba is spritzing over your posts, its time to change. I am only going to take the time to point out two of the many things wrong with your list.Only nation on earth to use a nuclear weapon against another nation.
Committed genocide against a large ethnic group multiple times. (the native americans)
Allows their corporations to go around raping the entire world, poison their own people, without EVER meaningfully reprimanding them in the courts. So much goes in this category I'll just stop here.
We had one of the worst civil wars in the history of the world, and we had that war over an idea that's so universally deplored that it boggles the mind.
Toppled many benign governments and replaced them with brutal and/or corrupt ones. Installing the Shah in Iran comes to mind, but there's countless other examples.United States support of authoritarian regimes - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"But we beat the Nazis!" you might say. No, the Russians broke the Nazis at Leningrad. We cleaned them out Europe afterwards, but the Russians sacrificed ~10 million soldiers and over 20 million lives to stop the advance of the Nazis.
-The nuclear weapons deployed against Japan saved millions of lives. That isn't conjecture, its absolute fact. That they are nuclear weapons doesn't put them into some special category. As many or more people died in the firebombings of Tokyo and Dresden than at Hiroshima or Nagasaki. Without the show of force that those bombings constituted, though, the U.S. would have had to invade Japan. Based upon previous invasions, they estimate that the U.S. would have suffered more than a million casualties, with 5 to 10 million Japanese casualties. A-bombs shortened the war, saved lives, preventing more states and people falling under Soviet oppression, and have never been used again.
-The U.S. Civil War was particularly bloody but as mentioned, not even close to the worst civil war. It was so bloody in part because while technology had advanced considerably, the tactics used were still that of the Napoleonic era. As a result, thousands died. It was in many ways one of the first wars of the "modern" era and is considered to be a preview of the First World War. That it was mostly fought over slavery in one form or the other is true but abolition of slavery by other European powers wasn't too much sooner, as evidenced by the British eliminating slavery as late as 1833, although they did suspend the slave trade, particularly the African slave trade in 1808. That Americans felt so strongly over the issue as to spend hundreds of thousands of lives to rid our country of it has to be an unadulterated good.
How about a 4-way, with Mist's cousin?
You remain such a giant douche that women walking by computers with this webpage up have cleaner vaginas merely by proximity to your posting. You are St. Douche.I don't know... maybe it's because I'm an English teacher, maybe it's because I've had to become communicatively capable in four languages, maybe it's just because I understand the concept of context, but I don't have a problem with the term "privilege". To me, it basically means "bonus". It's like, regardless of any decision you've made or action you've taken up to this point, here's something positive that can help you. It's not a cure-all. it's not a "get out of jail free" card (even though it may literally have been used to get out of jail free), it's not a "fix anything that may be wrong in your life" solution. It's a bonus that can range from small to big, but is a given if you happen to qualify.
Maybe I happen to interpret certain concepts differently than most, maybe some people just need to be far less defensive about word choice... I don't know. All I know is... if that previously shared photo was actually of Trollface's sister, then I want first crack at that. I don't care how we decide... arm wrestling, VS Tetris, death battle... that is some sweet hotness.
Unless she's 12 or something, in which case I withdraw everything I just said.
Trollface, how old is your sister?
