I'm not constantly jabbering at anyone to do anything. I don't particularly like the concept of "privilege" as it's generally framed, and I flat out hate the word itself. But with so many people trying to claim the concept has no validity at all, I felt the need to post about my particular views on the topic, as someone well versed in the mathematical realities of income, race and incarceration rates. I think anyone that values rationality at all should constantly be checking their own biases while watching out for other people's.

And speaking of incarceration, I forgot to mark down in the 'There might be something wrong with America' column the fact that we throw people into for-profit privatized prisons. Not just PEOPLE, but we put CHILDREN in for-profit privatized prisons.

And we supposedly live in the greatest democracy in the world, and yet our congress is almost entirely white men, with terrible representation rates for minorities and women. And the congress is all bought off, AND they're all fucking useless. There's some kind of connection there,somethingisn't working right. We really need to fix our democracy, women and minorities have just as much right to be bought-off useless puppets as anyone else.

What experience do you have with the CJ system, more specifically working shit neighborhoods day in and day out? I mean we are talking about bias and being mindful of it and then you throw the whole CJ system under the bus. Is it perfect? Except it's not the institutional racism you think. It's emphasizing race in a positive way, because idiots can't possibly understand what going from 'Bobby is white and Brian is black' to 'Bobby, look, Brian is black! Celebrate his blackness! Brian, make sure you recognize your life of hardships because you are black!' actually accomplishes. Hint: It's the exact opposite of the intended purpose. Further, there IS decidedly institutionalized prejudice against many of the self-identified characteristics of black culture... because they are fucking character flaws. It has nothing to do with any skin color. You will be in the exact same position as a white thug as you will as a black thug. The difference is that 'white' culture doesn't exist. Certain Caucasian ethnic groups have cultural heritage, but they are no where near as self-serving and self-destructive as black American culture. Actual African-Americans (not 10th generation black Americans with a ridiculous name) don't suffer from this problem.

You will never be able to fully eliminate racism. However, the primary problem right now squarely lies with the self-destructive culture that so many black Americans are perpetuating rather than actual racism. Can you find it? Certainly. It is not, however, the primary cause of everyone's woes.
