He spent like $3500 in SSD's.

That doesn't make it any better. SSD's are becoming quite cheap. Without discount/sale 3500$ would buy you ~10-12 1TB Evo850's currently. He bought 3500$ of SSD's at THEIR price, which as we've seen is wayyyy out of the norm for pricing.

I think the big draw to these type of buys is that you're not supposed to have to worry about them and they'll still be relevant 2-3 years down the road.

He's also a senior security guy at Google, so there may be a certain level of ep33n in buying this kind of PC. He might have influenced my own purchase, haha.

On my new computer now. Only issue so far was that I had to swap between HDMI 1 and HDMI2 on my TV. For some reason once it booted to windows (TV worked in bios setup screen) it lost the signal to my TV. Changed it, and now it works. Installing Witcher 3 and the new Tomb Raider, think those are the most demanding games graphically I have that I know I had to reduce graphics settings to even move around at around 30-40fps.

Now to start the hassle of installing everything again.

Do need something to cover the sight of the clear wall on the case though. That Gainward 1080 glows red like the sun.

fixes all manner of gaudy LED lights, you're gonna need a nice long big strip since your vid card practically has tube light.

So tell me how bad I fucked up on my monitors by only getting 60hz. I don't
Just ordered 2 of these HP Pavilions.

Been using the same 24-inch 1920x1200 monitor for 10+ years it was really time for an upgrade. The best part is due to my new profession I actually need monitors like this to work with dimensional plans and plat maps. So going forward I will always be able to expense my PC upgrades :)

So tell me how bad I fucked up on my monitors by only getting 60hz. I don't play a ton of FPS though I do enjoy them. I was really into OW but I don't have the time to play 20+ hours a week and that is the minimum I need to play on an FPS to keep my skill sharp and be competitive. So after the first 3 weeks of OW I have hardly played because I hate being bad at a game. So tell me did I fuck up on the 60hz?

The EVGA software for the 1070 let's me control the LED (pulse vs always on, intensity of LED or OFF) does yours not have that?

Edit: If you don't play competitive games 144hz isn't really necessary I guess - I really like it, but that's just me.

Just looked though the different programs, found one tied to gainward (extreme something). LED options, turned off, computer went dark.

A++ would like again! Thank you!

Finally got the sales manager on the phone from Origin.

He wanted me to ship the system back, so they could work on it and send it back to me, but I just resubbed to WoW, so I'm like nah. (JK, it simply defeats the purpose of me buying from them if I'm without a PC for a week)

Ultimately, they're going to ship me and new PC, w some potential upgrades, and have me ship this one back. I thought this was an acceptable solution.

-------

I would've been REALLY happy if he'd told me they were going to upgrade my ish and send me an even more badass PC. But, beggers can't be choosers.

Hopefully they also send a big red note down to the guy who is building it for you to not mess this one up or its $4500 from their paycheck.

My computer seems to work fine. Uninstalled asus sonic radar which created a red orb in all my games signaling where the sound was coming from (dumbest feature I've seen).

Witcher 3 plays smooth as butter with max settings, and the new Tomb Raider also got 60fps average with everything maxed.
Heaven Benchmark test is 80-200+fps on maximum.

Happy with purchase.

W.T.F. So, apparently they ignored the last conversation we had and are wanting me to send them the PC so they can repair it?

Hello Venn Collective,

We are very sorry to have your system come back for repair. Unfortunately, things sometimes do happen. Rest assured that ORIGIN PC takes your situation very seriously and will work honestly to address the issue.

Please follow these steps so that your system can be repaired properly and quickly returned to you.

  1. Backup all personal data.
    1. Your system may be reformatted and reset to factory settings
    2. ORIGIN PC will not reinstall any 3rd party software
  2. Remove all passwords from the OS and BIOS.
  3. Deactivate any applications that may have a strict activation process (such as adobe products)
  4. Package your system securely (Failure to do so may lead to shipping damage that ORIGIN PC will not be responsible for.)
    1. Desktops need to be packaged within a cardboard box with proper foam inserts and desktop sleeve inside a wooden crate
    2. Laptops need to be packaged within a cardboard box with proper foam inserts and laptop sleeve
  5. Do not send any additional items (software, power cords, etc.) unless otherwise instructed
  6. Included in this email are a UPS shipping label and two copies of a shipment receipt for UPS pick up, they are good for 15 business days
    1. UPS pick up is the only option due to the high value of ORIGIN PC systems
    2. The label is to be attached to the box/crate that UPS is picking up.
    3. The shipping receipts need to be provided to UPS for signature. This is to prove that they picked up your package

  1. International Customers: Please remember that you are responsible for all freight charges incurred in shipping, importing/exporting, receiving replacement parts and for arranging and paying for the shipment of any defective part(s) back to ORIGIN PC. All international customers are responsible for all customs duties, VAT and other associated taxes and charges.

-Once your system arrives at ORIGIN PC, techs will inspect it for any damage, missing items or any other issues.

-The average repair time runs about 5-10 business days. You will be contacted if there are any issues or delays.

Please do let us know once you are ready and when you would like to schedule the UPS pickup. Provide the best date and time for the request. We will take care of the rest for you. Please note that UPS cannot guarantee any exact pickup times.

You can follow this link for more information on your ORIGIN PC warranty and terms and conditions:Terms and Conditions | ORIGIN PC

Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. We are always happy to help.

WTF is going on.

I just got another email confirming everything we agreed to in our conversation.

IM SO CONFUSED.

Hello Taylor,

Thank you for taking my phone call this afternoon and sharing your concerns with me regarding your computer. It is greatly appreciated. I will be sharing this information with the sales manager immediately. ORIGIN PC always takes customer feedback seriously and use it improve our services.

I wish to apologize for your experience. It is not the ORIGIN experience we work so hard for. Unfortunately, things sometimes do happen. And if they do, ORIGIN is always more than willing to work in good faith to meet our customers concerns.

Just to go over what was discussed over the phone, you noted your issues with communications with your sales representative, Arturo.

Also, you let me know about the missing SLI bridge and the LED remote not functioning, how the fans are louder than they should be and that your optical drive is not functioning properly. That your overclocking is not functioning properly and the long boot times for your system.

All of these concerns will be addressed and I will make sure that the system is working properly before we prepare it to ship to you.

I have already started the paperwork to have a new system built for you and have included the shipping labels for when your system is ready to ship back to us. I will be arranging to have a crate shipped to you so that you can prepare the system to ship back to us. I will also attach a copy of the shipping labels to the trouble ticket as well as with the standard form instructions for shipping the computer back to us.

If you have any further questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at any time, I will always be happy to help.

Ship it in and cross your fingers for a miscommunication leading to you getting a fixed one + a replacement?

sounds like you're getting email from different depts, or you should just change that "repair" to "REFUND" instead.

My guess is that as they are opening repair tickets, there's some automated email shit being generated telling you to ship back.

Stick with your agreed plan for them to ship you a new one first, then return the junk machine.

HIGHLY doubtful this would happen. My PC issues definitely fell through the cracks and it's been super annoying to get all this squared away, but I guarantee when they have something to lose on there end, there won't be any issues.
