Spending $400 on a mobo is a huge waste of money unless it has some feature you absolutely need. You shouldn't need to spend more than $150-$175 to get a good mobo from an established brand.Alright folks - I haven't built a rig since 2016. My primary gaming habits will most likely be PoE 2, Baldur's Gate 3 and 2010-2024 backlog. I do not play shooters for the most part and the vast majority of my past year was spent on Last Epoch, FFXIV, and some dabbles in WoW Classic/WoW Private stuff and some Grim Dawn here and there. I'm on a budget because I'm being responsible and we're in the midst of a $50k home remodel that we're not taking a loan out for along with having those money-sucking kids, but want to be somewhat future proof.
I slapped together this today:
Overall, running about $2200 on newegg...I'd like to get that down. Recommendations? Am I just really fucking overkill for what I want to play?
and here's my slightly cheaper version: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Caedrus/saved/jzK3Hx
Also, 64 gigs of memory is a complete waste. You don't need more than 32.
You can also nearly cut the cost of your PSU in half by getting an 800 or 850. You don't need more than that.
You could also easily save $50 on your SSD. Your choice is unnecessarily expensive.
The second build is listed as private, but your first build is wasting $500-$600.
*Edit* I replied as soon as I saw your post and didn't read the follow-up posts. It looks like some of my concerns were already addressed.
