Beta build. Build made for beta. As in, incomplete by definition. I'm not saying anything other than there are areas that are clearly incomplete and that there is precedence for it not being complete. From a programmers standpoint, why put more in it than needs to?
I guess we'll see in 6 weeks what the full Russia map looks like. My money is on the areas that weren't real geometry still not being real geometry, but to avoid getting accused again of "shitting on" a game that I'm pre-ordering the $100 version of, I will say that after seeing the moon I am optimistic about there being a significant amount of map space behind those areas that were gated off by ?? mobs. I'm also curious whether there's actually going to be level 12-20 mobs on Earth in some areas or if they only put those things there to keep people out in the beta. Hopefully there's real content in there too, and not just dead ghosts to collect.

----------------------------

Anyone know how PSN pre-loading is going to work? I'm used to Steam, where you can pre-order a game on Amazon, plug in your key, and still pre-load like normal. What I've been reading about PSN pre-loading makes it sound like Sony only allows people who buy the game directly from the PS Store to pre-load and everyone else gets fucked until 3AM EDT. Nothing I can find actually comes right out and says exactly how it works though.

When does Amazon mail you the key Vorph? If they mail it to you in advance, just plug it in and see. There's only 1 SKU that shows to my eyes - the same P/O SKU as buying it straight from them.

I'd imagine its mailed the same day as release though - in which case it's obviously not preloadable though.

People were doing wall exploits in the Beta to unlock the locked off sections. It's much larger then you think it is, but it's like the moon where everything isn't on the top layer.

Don't know, don't want to find out the hard way that I can't pre-load it if I buy digital from someplace other than directly from PS Store. I sent Amazon an email but I haven't heard back and I don't even know if the person who sees it will have any idea what the hell I'm asking about.

Ya, not sure, the whole pre-load shit is new with PS. That's why I canceled my pre-order from amazon and just went with the PS store, assuming they won't fuck it up given that this is probably the first playstation + required game released.

Wouldn't trust something that's relatively new with 3rd parties.

I only get this psyched about once a year for a new release, and this is it, but still disappointed in the fact that this game has to release during the beginning of football season. Other than that, my only major concern is why do they even bother with spaceships, it's really disappointing just because I'm basically assuming because of the beta that they won't serve any purpose at all, given that there's no stats appointed to them. Was really looking forward to at least one large pvp area where air combat would be implemented (warhawk style). Though I generally prefer 0 vehicles, but if they have to be implemented, I want air-to-air combat or it's just useless.

I've got a few questions about this game. I played the beta for a few hours and was able to get my character to level 4. Did a lot of exploring most of my playtime. From what I saw game reminds me of Borderlands, which is no time a bad thing. As for PvP is it open world or something we que up for? How do you acquire weapons and gear? I know you get some through quests but most of it from drops? Are there different servers or just one mega server that everyone plays on?

PVP is arena matches that you queue for. 3v3 or 6v6. No open world.

While leveling, weapons and gear come from random drops and end of strike (story missions only give whites, at least from 1-8, so the items are pointless) rewards. At max level, it looks like most of your stuff will come from collecting marks from pve or pvp and buying items with them. Leveling up the engram vendor/decoder guy starts giving legendary and exotic rewards after about rank 7 or so.

Servers are a mix of dedicated and peer to peer. You'll see a max of 12(?) people in a exploration zone, with the occasional public event that can pull in more than that. Once you cross a line into a mission area, it's just you/your fireteam. Basically the game uses a ton of phasing, most of it pretty seamless.

Hmm if I'm reading the article right, you can't do raids with 5 other random people. You must have 5 friends online who want to do the raid with you. I don't like that. My play times are sporadic and unpredictable. I hope they at least give you the option to fill a raid party with random matchmaking at release.

Yeah and apparently if someone drops you cant have someone else come in or something of the sort. My group is max of 5 so going to have to find a 6th non fail person on the days when we can even try to raid or find a clan but dont particularly want to end up on a schedule.

Bungie really needs to rethink communication, or rather the total lack thereof. Voice chat alone is not enough imo, but six weeks is an awful short amount of time to expect them to add even the most basic text chat. It's especially awkward on PS3 where pretty much no one has a headset (or worse, you're like me and have a headset but for some reason it still didn't work right in the beta).

Over 4.6 million people played the recent Destiny beta, Activision has announced.

That's 4,638,937 people, to be exact.

The beta closed on Sunday having launched first on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on 17th July for those who had pre-ordered the game. It was then opened up to Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners who had pre-ordered, before opening up to all.

Activision said it was the largest console beta for a new video game intellectual property, and, as you'd expect, the biggest beta on he current generation of consoles.

Opening the beta up to everyone was a good start. I expect this will do very well at release.
