If they'd started it at the restaurant scene that would have been a decent episode, but everything before that point was just boring.
Wait, no, the "tramp in alley" scene was good as well. Keep that, junk the rest, then start with the Doc sitting down at the table.

The lesbian/sontaran/clara/scottish humour just came across as forced. Maybe it's because I was actually in Scotland yesterday and it's soured me

I dunno, I thought that 'This is NOT more important than my egomania' and 'Oh my god, it *is* voice activated isn't it' came across pretty well ;p

Who was the lady in "Heaven" at the end?
That's the 1,000,000 question. Heaven looked like a Tardis to me. And I think it's likely the Rani. /shrug. She obviously is a time traveller since I assume she have the Doctors number to Clara. She also claimed the Doctor was her boyfriend, something the original Rani once claimed.

I thought it was OK, but I am waiting to see more of the writing for this season.

My wife on the other hand is still upset over the one scene with the phone call that she considers an undue falcon punch right in the feels...

The phone call felt ike moffat wasnt feeling too confident about the capaldi transition so they brought smith back to punch up the episode.

-I really liked the semi-subtle stuff about choosing his face, punctuated by showing his reflection on the other side of the silver plate. I think he realized/remembered why he chose it (that face's angry, accusing eyebrows, say, on a hill in Pompeii), to check his own hubris a bit, perhaps, in this new set of regenerations.
-I agree that "Heaven" looked like it could be in a TARDIS, and that chick could totally be the Rani, but it looked a bit like that place Amy got old in. Missy's clearly the one who gave Clara the Doctor's number and put the ad in the paper. Though, if it IS the Rani, and they wanna be total nerds about it, it should actually be that split-dimension-place of the mind that she was in when we last saw her, and she's just showing what she wants and using it to hop around in time/space a bit. She may need the Doctor for a ride out, still...
-I really dig that the opening is the one a fan made. It's so cool that they did that. Along the same lines, the hair-pin/sonic-needle Vastra had, and Strax's medical scanner/monocle were both school kid fan suggestions. I think Jenny had something too, but I can't remember anything except how awesome her tits looked when she was modeling.
-I may be the only one, but it was off-putting at the end when the TARDIS launched and there was no rumblies. Should have been at least a jolt.
-Dat camera-spike after the robut was impailed. Yeah, we know which one lied about his programing. The Doctorstartedthe conversation saying he feared he'd have to murder him. The "stronger than you look" comment may mean something too.
-The phone call. Kinda bugs me a bit. I think because I don't feel THIS Doctor should remember that much.
-Might have been a mistake selling that pocket watch...

I think the last time the Rani was seen in the show was when the doctor released a t-rex inside her tar dis, so the tar dis inside the t-rex might be another hint. Or it could all be a giant moffet troll.

I liked how the Doctor made the "replace all the parts is it the same hammer/axe/mop" parable... in an episode where he replaced all his parts, insisting HE is still the Doctor, while the tells the robot its not the same robot anymore.
Was he wrong about himself or wrong about the robot? (Human's do even replace our entire bodies cells constantly..)

According to the Guardian "Heaven" was filmed in the same location as the place Amy got old in a few series ago. Not sure if it's meant to be the same place in the narrative. My initial reaction was that it was a TARDIS as well.

I'm just going to guess that it is the nearest/nicest stately home to Cardiff in Wales where they film this, like how every alien planet in Stargate looked like a Canadian forest
