Is chat fucking bugged or something? It doesnt display new chat messages and constantly sits at the top so I have to scroll all the way down manually through the entire log to see the most recent message. Cannot communicate with team now. Help? Maybe a glitch?

I don't like it. Hard to see anything. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but it's just everything is stupidly hard to see. And the map seems way too complicated (spawn times wtf?).

And yeah, same issue with chat here. Couldn't communicate at all. Messages were there, but never popped up. Had to scroll every time.

Yeah expect a bunch of updates, they weren't done testing at all, they just had to stick to the date they announced or whatever. They made 8 updates in a day on test and reports of various bugs, some gamebreaking from a competitive point of view were still coming in.

I think they use test just to catch the biggest issues if any, then go live and fix the rest.

This new in game HUD / UI system fucking sucks. So counter intuitive.

Everything used to be sensibly placed and sized correctly so that kills were left side, easy to read and highlighted. On top of that, the ~ key brings up an easy to read menu that is medium size. Instead, they expand the kill text boxes and make them obnoxious are harder to read on the fly, in an annoying spot on the screen with distracted animated portraits above them and removed the highlighted features for faster reading. On top of that, they shrink all the items which SHOULD be large and easy to read and then EXPAND the fucking ~ key menu text which SHOULD be fucking small so I can check it on the fly.
I am so confused by the logic. Now I have to crank my head top right to check kills, left to check menus for other heroes or whatever, down for my hero and my items, right to shop, then mid left again for ~ quick menu checks. What the fuck. I've been playing on a 60" and this new shit has made it impossible to absorb information as seamlessly as I used to.

It would be absolutely fine if I could choose to move the boxes where I please like any modern fucking game would do, but I can't. On top of that, I now have to click my skills to level them up? I haven't fucking done that in DoTA in 8 years.

Aside from all that, I think the gameplay is very smooth and so much more streamlined. The talents are powerful and easy to use and add a great element of natural strength to a lot of heroes. Also leads to more build variety or usefulness. Monkey King is cool. Strong as fuck, especially with the right team. I like the jungle and shrine changes but something just doesn't seem...refined with the areas yet. I don't care for the new Roshan location but I guess it makes sense strategically. It will probably be interesting in high tier games.

Lots of fucking crazy games tonight, even experienced players are playing like complete fucking noobs right now. Haha.

Stolen from reddit, but hilarious.

Highly Toxic Warlock, Small, Ryan, The Source of the Disaster all had me rolling.

I played a second game yesterday, and I think most of my complaints actually come down to the HUD/UI. Everything is small (or maybe I'm just too old?); items, shops, health/mana bars, skills...it's just too difficult to look at them really quickly in a game that is so fast paced.

Then the stuff that got moved is crap too, as has been covered. The kills/runes/whatever on the right side is distracting, and checking items on the left side makes no sense.

I think fixing that would go a long way to making it more playable.

The other one that I'm not actually sure about is the level curve. It seems fast. That could be a good thing, but we'll see.

The rest of it will just take getting used to. I don't like the neutral spawn times and rune spawn times, but that's just adjustment on my part. It's a bit disappointing that stacking is kind of pointless, but it sounds like pulling is still a thing. It's annoying when you rotate into the jungle only to realize that 2 minutes is a really fucking long time and nothing is up. I think this change was to make people fight more?

The map is much more busy, there is some kind of objective everywhere. Bounty runes are now required to take for a support, no ifs or buts. Ogre takes enemy bounties. Shrines are every bit as nuts as I thought they would be. XP goes a lot faster, I was lvl 23 40 minutes in, granted with 4/4/22 and 140 LHs + 25% xp talent on top, but hitting 25 45+minutes in will be viable.

The UI isn't as bad, but it needs customization, badly. It also abandons Dota's RTS roots, your hero staring at you all game long is useless, I don't want checking the enemy inventory to clutter up my screen. First thing I did is expanding the minimap to max size possible and the skins can still cover its edges, not being able to see who is in your fountain is annoying. Shop somehow allows you to do less - you need to keep switching between advanced/basic items all game long, since recommended now take up all space. Stacking is still viable, but only at specific timings or if you can stack more than 1 camp.

You can still level up your skills by CTRL + Hotkey, can't you? I'd like the option to go back to the way I had it but only b/c it has been familiar for the last 3+ years (was using ~ and then hotkey, but at least relearning the CTRL + method will free up ~ for something else).

The other stuff seems like a scaling issue they should have considered. Just having a slider to scale up the UI could have solved the size issues. But I actually have a fair amount of confidence the other cosmetic complaints will be addressed fast'ish. They were making daily tweaks to the scrolling combat text, stun indicators, and everything there for a bit. And so many great mock ups of what changes need to happen are out there now most of the design revision work is finished. The dota team took the UI overhaul 90% of the way there, only seems right the community takes it the final 10%.

Things like stacking and pulling are so non-intuitive and lame it's long overdue they did something about them.

You could say the same thing about denying creeps and towers, too. I mean, killing your own creeps? That's insanity! But it's part of the mechanics of DOTA that make it DOTA.

Pulling is a legitimate strategy to deny the enemy hero experience and gold. It also allows you to control lane equilibrium. This is something most MOBA's don't have.

The game, at least at the pro level (or maybe especially, not at least), is about getting these tiny advantages over your opponent until they build up so much that you can win. That and taking advantage of their fuck ups. Something like stacking camps is a big one, especially to allow comebacks because you lost your lane.

That is very shortsighted point of view. Being able to manipulate the map to your advantage is what makes Dota so good, it's not what hero you pick, but what can you do with it. Double stacks are alive and well if you time them properly and those are enough to deny the whole creep wave. What was nerfed was your mid losing lane and catching up in a minute thanks to jungle stacks. Or every decent carry being able to clear ancient stacks.

This patch is pretty fun, MK is annoying AF but it gives me an excuse to play more batrider... complete and utter counter?

napalm = free long range poke
firefly = tree vision/tree cutting
flamebreak = knock him out of his ult circle
lasso = lasso

I love zeus' and skywraths new aghs too omg, zeus can stun lock (specially with Atos) and his nimbus + his normal lightning strike. Skywrath just pretty much cleaves with his now. So good

I'm still unsure what to think of the new patch. I think it's going to be a lot more fun to play supports with backpack and a lot more stuff to do around the map to gain experience and levels. Instead of blowing all your mana and suiciding you can blow your mana, pick up bounty rune, regen mana at well, gank mid or go back to lane.

Monkey King is the most retarded hero the frog put in the game, like, holy shit. He does the damage of two heroes, has free stuns, free lifesteal and the ulti can murder the whole team on its own. Top it off with the crazy and easy to use mobility and it feels like somebody accidentaly put in a LoL hero with Dota dmg values.

The only thing I don't like about monkey king is the lack of options to gain flying vision. The fucker can show up anywhere out of the blue and he's so hard to kill without flying vision. I would also like to see double or triple the cool down to hop from tree to tree. Also the ability to hid as a rune or a tree is just so fucking clowny and needs to be removed.

I want to try him as a ganking 4 position that zones melee off laners and just goes around ganking and scouting. With Phase boots, PMS, wind lace and maybe bottle you could run around and chase and smack the shit out of any support and gank like hell. High mobility to take runes and escape if a gank doesn't work out.
