And now we can see how a_skeleton_03 has once again carefully constructed a completely incorrect nonsequitor argument from his ass to justify his shitty position
"Because a lot of people are in this weird camp that we need to colonize space because our atmosphere is dying."
Uh, no. No one is saying we need to colonize space because climate change.
No one has taken that position at all.
The position, if anyone were to take it at all, would be properly constructed in this fashion: We need to be preparing to colonize places like Mars when it becomes viable, in order for the species to hopefully survive a species wide extinction event that would be exclusive to Earth, whatever that event might be, BEFORE that event happens, and the time to do so is TOO LATE.
The same exact argument could be made for this hypothetical preparing the northern climates for human habitation NOW in case climate change gets out of control, because ONCE THE ECOLOGIES OF THE EARTH ARE IN COLLAPSE, and subsequently HUMAN SOCIETY IS IN TURMOIL, it will be TOO LATE AT THAT POINT to do so.
The position Cad had was that WHEN CLIMATE CHANGE'S WORST EFFECTS KICK IN, THEN we will ADAPT to survive by inventing new technologies and the like to survive it, that small clusters of people will move to the northern climes to survive, etc.
That is a flawed premise because BY THAT POINT IT WILL BE TOO LATE. We would be needing to prepare for that eventuality NOW to ensure the viability of that sort of alternative plan for our survival, because BY THE TIME WE REACH THE POINT IT WOULD BE NECESSARY, it would BE TOO LATE.
