One complete nerd nitpick I have is the Harkonnen ship firing a lasgun at Duncan's shielded ornithopter during the attack on Arrakeen. I don't believe it's mentioned in the film, but lasguns aren't typically used in warfare due to the nuclear explosion resulting from laser to shield contact. The fremen using lasguns on the Harkonnen spice harvesters at the beginning makes sense due to not using shields anywhere worms could be near. The Harkonnen ship firing a few hundred yards away from Duncan's ship? Not so much. Or the Sardaukar using the lasgun in the ecological testing site - unless it was supposed to be a suicide mission, why risk it there either?

Lasgun vs shield interactions were a big nitpick of mine when I first watched it. In the book, Liet is so confident it will take the sardukar hours to get through to him and paul because they wouldn't risk using a lasgun because there could be a shield inside the door. And I was hoping they'd have the lasgun-shield suicide attack on the sardukar transport from the book. I think Stilgar says something like "That's an acceptable exchange". Lasguns are almost never used in the first 3 books because people are terrified of the extremely random reactions and getting attention from the lansraad, and I don't think the Fremen even have any. The one in that attack was stolen.

Though to nitpick your nitpick, lasgun-shield interactions don't necessarily result in a nuclear explosion. The books tell us that it can sometimes be a small reaction that kills only the shooter and the shielded, but it also can sometimes be more severe than even atomics. Since the Lansraad says that using nukes on people is cause for having your planet deleted, houses are terrified of using or even giving the image that they might be using nukes on people. They are a bit more free about Lasguns, but they try to make sure they only use them in warzones, and it's pretty much a nope on using them when there's shields in play. They'd never use one over a city like in the movie.

IMO Zendaya is a visual prop and shouldn’t have been given any lines, but I wasn’t really bothered by her role in the movie.

Overall I really enjoyed the movie. My only real complaint is I wanted to see more of House Harkonnen and the Sardaukar.

The Sardaukar home planet scene is what I want to watch. More of that please.
