Major eruptions occurred roughly 2.1m, 1.3m and 640,000 years ago. A difference of 800,000 betwen the first and second and 660,000 between the second and third. So I'm cool with ignoring your bolded statement given 3 such eruptions in the past 2.1 million years - that's pretty wishful thinking by the USGS considering the uplift occurring with the Caldera these days.If it was anyone else, I would think they had to be trolling because they couldn't be this stupid.
Super-volcanic eruptions do not happen every 630-670k years, and that image you posted is wrong. The Island Park Caldera was formed 2.1m years ago, not 2m. That extra hundred thousand years makes a pretty huge difference when you're trying to claim a semi-regular geological event has such a narrow window..
Also bees, carrots, and clowns. But in fairness to him clowns are pretty fucked up.Instancing and being able to solo to max level?
Solar Flares taking out the grid. What else are you afraid of tad?

The odds are 1 in 10,000 of a super eruption in any given year.
Yellowstone Supervolcano: Will It Erupt During Our Lives?
@Erronius Yes. Steam to the future.
You're such a tool Gavinrad.
Well, I don't know about scared, but probably a bad idea to build your bunker too near Yellowstone.yeah, whats 140,000 years here or there. we need to be scared now!!!!
Which nutjob website has you all riled up about that? Give us a link.Solar Flares taking out the grid.
Hmm, trust a bunch of trained geologists at the USGS or a HuffPost writer....that's pretty wishful thinking by the USGS considering the uplift occurring with the Caldera these days.
Im not concerned about building a bunker that will need to be used in 140,000 years. i might not live that longWell, I don't know about scared, but probably a bad idea to build your bunker too near Yellowstone.
Lol, sure. The odds are 1 in 10,000 of a super eruption in any given year.
Scientists discover another cause of bee deaths, and its really bad news : TreeHuggerAlso bees, carrots, and clowns. But in fairness to him clowns are pretty fucked up.
Are you high? There have been 3 supervolcanic eruptions by Yellowstone in the past 2.1 million years.Lol, sure.
The siberian basalt traps were formed during a series of supervolcanic eruptions over a period of a million years, spanning the Permian-Triassic boundary and largely thought to have contributed to the Permian-Triassic mass extinction. After a million years of frequent (frequent on a geological scale) supervolcanic eruptions, there has not been another supervolcanic eruption in the last 250 million years.
BUT YELLOWSTONE IS GONNA BLOW FOR SURE!!!
A Carrington level Solar Flare could hit in 25 or less. We're actually overdue for a big one.wake up sheeple!! all these things will happen in several thousand years!!!
