Eating fish contaminated by Fukushima is probably ok

Give us a timeline on the Yellowstone explosion, Lumie...... I mean, Tad.
Unlikely anytime soon, but possible tomorrow. Super eruptions happen every 630-670,000 years. It's been 630,000 years since that last one.

Fukushima and Solar Flares are much higher on the concern scale - though Yellowstone could have a small scale eruption anytime, super eruption probably not happening for a couple thousand years, but you never know. I wouldn't buy a house in Colorado.
So the midwest it ruled out as a place to live because of Yellowstone, the west is out because of Japan, the Northeast is currently an iceberg and the south is a sea of human stupidity. Is there anywhere safe left in the US to live?

Oh that really narrows it down. Human civilization has existed for 12,000 years altogether.

Never stop pissing those pants, Tad

@Skanda Actually Northwestern/eastern Montana is fine, Yellowstone blows SE look at the ash maps. If that's too cold, there's always Texas!
Soo...if the ash doesn't touch my area I'm safe from a giant volcano eruption? I'll inform my realtor.

Everybody needs a bunker.

But the way the tectonic plates are moving means the next explosion will probably be IN Montana so I think it best to totally avoid that area.

And Texas is in the South, nothing but genetic wasteland there.

Because taking two data points: One cruise - "lots of shit" Second cruise ten years later "almost zero shit" - isn't a valid method of data collection? Whereas sitting on your ass and writing an article in Seattle based on 2011 and 2012 data is totally valid for 2014?
It's colder at my place today than it was yesterday. Global warming confirmed debunked.

Tad10, didn't you talk about using some sort of steam engine to generate electricity instead of a gasoline generator, back on FOH?

If it was anyone else, I would think they had to be trolling because they couldn't be this stupid.

Super-volcanic eruptions do not happen every 630-670k years, and that image you posted is wrong. The Island Park Caldera was formed 2.1m years ago, not 2m. That extra hundred thousand years makes a pretty huge difference when you're trying to claim a semi-regular geological event has such a narrow window.

Although fascinating, the new findings do not imply increased geologic hazards at Yellowstone, and certainly do not increase the chances of a "supereruption" in the near future.Contrary to some media reports, Yellowstone is not "overdue" for a supereruption. Indeed, it is quite possible that such an eruption will never again occur from the Yellowstone region.Scientist agree that smaller eruptions are likely in the future, but the probability of ANY sort of eruption at Yellowstone still remains very low over the next 10 to 100 years.
