Awesome for them, hope the word of mouth keeps it going for a while. Hope this secures a sequel too!

Some of the Steam achievements are surprising to me as well. Something like 25% of people have the Red XIII trophy. With so many people purchasing the game I’d expect that to be much lower. Sure it is an early’ish boss but you gotta go through some Souls kicks to the nuts to get there if it is your first time.

Main story boss spoilers:

Patches had a summon sign down for the Radahn fight, that bitch shows up and takes one look at Radahn and uses the finger severer thing and returns home immediately lol.

For real though I have absolutely no idea how any of you poor melee fucks are supposed to fight Radahn. His attacks are all so huge and he never stops that it wasn't even clear to me from my vantage when it would be possible to damage him? I just blasted him in to pieces with meteors while Alexander and Blaidd tanked, but good god if I had to go actually hit him with a sword I don't even know where you'd begin.

He gives pretty big windows especially with 5 summons taking all the aggro. Would just hold down strong attack with colossal greatsword and try to time it right as you sprint and out on the horse.

He was actually disappointingly easy and I didn't even really learn the fight. Infinite summons just makes him too easy

He was a complete rapist to me at level 100'ish, had enough faith to sling lightning bolts so I just did that. You must have iddqd ashes of war, that or maybe he simply calms way down when you're in melee range because it was a chore in itself to not get gibbed by his magic while running away fast. Those fallingstar beasts are like impossible on the horse, his homing ability is pretty much perfect but if you engage melee you can easily dodge or block all his damage, and RUN like hell when he starts glowing.

Probably buying this tonight, any starter tips?

I'm mostly wondering about the viability of melee vs ranged vs magic vs stealth. Are they all good playstyles or is anything gimped/overpowered?

Not played one of these games before.

Died to Radahn like twenty times before I figured out his weakness. Then he died in two attempts. I am now going to bed after pushing Ranni's questline to the last part of the underground. Time to get Bloodborne up in this bitch..

Apparently by doing Ranni's quest that opens up an ending, and Fia's yet another. Fuck Fia though.

I rolled Astrologer, and about 15 minutes later rolled Vagabond. I don't know, but I just felt like this game should be played with a melee class. But that's just me. I will say that as someone who never played any of the other Souls/Bloodborne games, it took some getting used to. I also quickly switched from keyboard/mouse to a controller. This game is much, much, much, much better with a controller.

Also have very little (less than 15 hours) experience with any From Software product.

There seems to be OP items for each "class" choice, but they are buried in a plethora of various locations. If you don't seek out info on the internetz, the chance of Random_Boss_2932 dropping something useful for you is small.

I picked Astrologer and put most everything into Int (dmg), a little Mind (mana), and a very few points into Vigor (HP). Trash mobs die before they touch me, and they don't assist, so it's almost all single pulls. The downside is, it can get a little droll plinking mobs with the same spell over and over though (it's the best dmg per mana ratio). Tip: If you are ready for the dodge and run life, you can use a weapon in the off hand to run up and finish off a mob, and not spend mana on it.

It's been relatively smooth sailing, but tonight I spent 4+ hours on 2 bosses. Midgame bosses: One was a trio that had 1 spearman, a glave thrower/melee, and a crystal mage (in Sellia Hideaway). Eventually won, but it probably took 30-50 attempts. Then I decided to try Starscourge Radahn and he fucked me up bad (until, eventually, I decided to go watch some TV). This was all at level 59 & 60.

Really?! Where is the second, found the one on the little island and thats it. I was wondering why I had like 15 dragon hearts and only 3 spells.

There's one in Caelid. I haven't found a third.

Finally found the key to get into the Academy.

I also found some spot with a witch NPC invader that kept one-shotting me with her blue lightsaber sword, assuming at level 50 I'm not supposed to be there yet?

Beat the dog boss at Raya and then called it a night, I'm assuming this dungeon is as massive as Stormveil in terms of hidden paths and such?

I also finally found a illusory wall, reward wasnt great but I was still happy to find one.

I’m at basically the same spot as you. Beat the dog (the Burger King fuckers are annoying but you can run past all of them to get to boss door) and then pressed on, somehow ended back at the chapel towards the beginning. Guess I missed a branch somewhere. Where was the illusory wall?

Roll samurai to start, seems to be the best introduction to the game. The game is massive and it makes a lot of sense to respec one or more times to try out the different builds. In previous games you'd only want to do this by replaying the game.

Speaking if respecing, I unlocked respeccing and am looking to switch from a str to a spellsword build. Just something that casts shit and swings a light, fast sword. Any good combinations of spells and weapons to go for and stat allocations to use?

I dont remember exactly but it was before the dog fight I swung at an empty book case and it opened a hallway that kinda wrapped around, definitely in the academy.

If you cant find it ill try and be more specific when I get home and load it up.(that's if you're trying to stay pretty blind about spoilers and such)

I bought that note from the merchant and was like "wtf is this note talking about" and then proceeded to find basically every other church than the one I needed. I r dumb. Finally got the Flask and I agree that it is pretty cool and useful (especially if you had, like me, unintentionally been farming the ingredient-things without knowing wtf they were for). I definitely did not follow a mainline path so that's fine with me.

What's a good mixture for the Flask of Wondrous Physick? I'm using the roll enhancement and restore half HP...because they're all I have.

I just defeated a mandatory story boss with a 2% completion rate on the trophy for it. That's one way to tell where you are in relation to the rest of the playerbase. People who have beaten the game are in like, the top 0.5%.

That's been me since the earliest Final Fantasy games. I almost NEVER use consumable shit if it's remotely uncommon. I'm trying to change that up with this game...

Yeah, me too. At the end of your average FF game my inventory is full of unused items. FF1 Pixel Remaster I bought like 20 Phoenix Downs early in the game and ended up having all 20 left at the end.

In the snow area now. I think I could probably head for the final boss at this point, but I'm trying to max out my +19 weapon. Just need to find the mines in the snow region, I'm guessing.

Note: The Giant-Killer's Grave (or something like that) crypt dungeon in the snow area is bugged and might not be completable. To reach the boss, you have to do some stuff to make an invulnerable troll damage-able. Well, I did the stuff, and it didn't trigger, he never left the invulnerable state. While trying different things, at one point he went vulnerable without me doing anything at all, which isn't supposed to happen either, but unfortunately I lost the fight. Either way, that dungeon is a massive PITA and you can't reach the end unless you're lucky enough to avoid the glitch. It does have a bunch of high-tier Ghost Glovewort including the +10, so it's worth sacking for mats at least.

I'm missing one Ghost Glovewort tier (8) so my summon of choice has been at +7 for ages while I have enough mats to max it out if I could find one 8. Lul.

Might make a bid at finishing the game today so I can get back to RL over the weekend. A few days of nolifing and debris is piling up, bills aren't paid, etc. Probably gained 5 pounds too.

I just did that part last night and had the same issue until I remembered
the big looping path broken and disconnected off to the right of courtyard with the spinning axe maiden
.

Unless your talking about the first boss door… man I gotta stop posting right when I wake up.
