Maliketh the black blade is fucking impossible as a melee. Any tips? Sweet lord.
dodge torwards him in second phase will negate most of the bullshit.

Trying a Dex/int build now for PvP. Using the Sleep swords, I don't think most know what the build up is... Also why people are trying to PvP with 6-800 HP is beyond me. Sure you hit like a truck but I 2 shot you... Using Carian blade spells to mix up the long sword attacks.

So reading that if you use an Incantation Seal that scales primarily with something other than Faith that it wont effect Heals / Buffs as those only scale off Faith despite what the Incant Scaling stat shows.

Can anyone confirm or deny this based on their first hand knowledge? There are just so many hidden numbers in this game, makes it quite frustrating.

Yeah I dont PvP and even I have 30 in Vitality and wear the hp amulate constantly. Everyone seems to have a hardon for alpha strike, probably because the birdfarm combined with the removal of item durability has eliminated all downsides to dying in PvP as an invader or summon.

sleep build is cool. I really wish there was a viable PvE blight build. The graphic is so cool. Afaik deathblight only works against Tarnished.

Elden Ring bosses are mostly a bunch of non-stop flailing assholes. After 3 Souls games, Sekiro, BB and Demons Souls I suppose there just isn't that much room left to create interesting encounters using what is essentially the same combat system since Demons Souls, with some tweaks of course.

If things keep progressing the same way, I expect Elden Ring 2 will have some bosses where if you're a pure melee you'll do nothing but dodge for a full minute before getting a 1 second window to punish, then another full minute of dodging, etc. What else can they do for melee with the current system? They added ashes to every boss fight so they really had no choice but to make them unbelievably aggressive with long combos otherwise you'd just trade hits for easy wins.

Personally I hope they do away with the ashes system, if indeed I'm right in that they force bosses to be crazy aggressive to the point where most are trivial as magic users and difficult for everyone else.

Speaking of Maliketh, any exploit to get to Crumbling Farum Azula early on? I want his armor but don't want to
trash my game by burning the erdtree. I know you can get there via the four belfries, but I think that locks you out of the rest of the area.
There’s a wrong warp trick through that area where you crash the game and it drops you off at the beginning of Farum. I don’t know the specifics I just saw some dude whining about on Reddit because it locks you out of some other stuff.

What boss do you think is most unfair to melee?

Not sure "unfair" is the right word, "unfun" for first timers is what I'd use instead. The last 5 bosses or so, starting with Maliketh, Malenia and all the way to the end with Elden Beast and whats his face before that just weren't that fun IMO.

Sort of kidding but the worst of them all though was that optional Bearing Bell Hunter in Caelid, I never got gud with melee and he kicked my ass so hard tbh, so a boss who hits like a bus that hides behind his shield constantly is the Fing worst. As soon as I respecced INT for Comet Azur I went and melted that POS because I couldn't touch him much in melee.

I'm looking for an AoW to put in my off-hand curved greatsword. Looking at this list: Elden Ring Ashes of War Tier List - Updated March 2022
any thoughts?

Hatorade Hatorade did you powerstance curved greatswords when you used the bloodhound's fang?
Yeah the jump attack really stacks up bleed quickly, well quickly for slow ass swords. Two handing is better for poise break, typically I would 2 hand some R2 then power stance for bleed proc.

What boss do you think is most unfair to melee?

It's Astel in the mine/dungeon in the snowfields, and it's not even close.

Every attack he has is a hard knockdown? Check

All his magic attacks are AoEs so large you can't possible get out of range of them if you were trying to melee him? Check

Awkward as fuck hitbox with camera lockons that given you seizures? Check

Teleports away from you whenever he feels like and also does a colossal AE in the process? Check

Fires massive giga lasers from across the map after he teleports, or just melees you with his 150ft long penis? Check

Wait I lied sometimes his teleport is the fuckin Omae Wa Shinderu version and it's actually a teleport directly above/behind you for a 3000 damage grab attack oneshot? Check

Hardened armor type so everyone not using a warhammer is extra fucked for DPS? Check

That list is pretty malarky. Half of his A-tier are just buffs that do nothing else of value, which is not what you want from your Ash aside from the hyper bleed seppeku builds. Hoarfrost and bloody slash being A-tier is similarly just a lie even though he's claimed to have "updated" his list.

Most of the rest of this is probably fine in purely PvE terms, but trying to use something like prelates charges or golden land in PvP is just a death sentence.

If you want just generically good in most situations it's pretty hard to beat sword dance for both PvE and PvP use. Square off is probably better for PvE specifically because of the huge amounts of stagger it can put out (basically the same thing as unsheathe/moonveil but for straight swords).

So frustrating having started a new playthrough and seeing people talk about bosses in one of the three sections of the map (lake of rot, haligree tree, the snow plains or whatever) I didn't explore.

Looking forward to getting to this boss with my "melee only, no summons, no talismans" playthrough.

Oooooh, no talismans, thats a good idea, not sure I could progress very fast although aside from minor stat boosts and stam regen, I guess the negate magical damage would be the one I'd miss the most.

I don’t mind the bosses that are aggressive. I can’t fucking stand the bosses where you spend 95% of the fight chasing them around to wherever they fucked off. Fire giant and final boss are good examples.

I did.

Bloodhound's Fang in primary, so you can use the Finesse AoW.
Omen Cleaver in off-hand with Bloody Slash and Bleed affinity.

Hemorrhage stacks pretty quick.

You can farm that cleaver in Stormveil Castle. The omen is right outside Liftside Chamber grace site.

I got a https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Dismounter last night I was going to use. Gotta check out the Omen Cleaver before I invest my stones in one.
