Pretty much this, forgelight was built for EQN and PS2 was its testing grounds. It will have great visuals but the design could resemble WoW meets EQ easily. I liked what i saw with the engine in PS2 personally so im fairly optimistic it we wont have a disaster like EQ2 again.

As for the P2W, people need to calm the f down. EQ2 has been "banking" so fucking hard off their cash shop for years and its nothing but fluff. Fuck i've easily dumped more in EQ2 cash shop that in EQ2 for a sub over the past 3 years. I dont even think ive paid for EQ2 with 6 accts in past few years but ive easily paid my dues on the market place. Fluff, xp pots, and mounts dont mean dick for P2W and i seriously dont see them suddenly adding "Massive 2 handed of dick swinging" into it.

What i would like to see are Bards, Monks, the need for actual CC in a dungeon crawl and the need for a skilled puller. Things of which have vanished from current MMOs.

There is a ton we need filled in on. Flips info was great overall for me as I wanted EQ classes/races back, Outdoors dungeons, etc. we just can't say either way how honest Smed was being until Friday. I wasn't expecting to know the big shit until then..unless UT drops some info that he says he knows...

Sadly you're probably right. You were forced to buy races/classes in EQ2 and it fucking sucked. I think they eventually got rid of that or maybe it was EQ1 that got rid of it. Nonetheless; stupid fucking idea.

Meh, it's not 1999. I think we're all grown ups now and can afford to pony up some dough. I'm not concerned about it. Hell, I think I already have 2200 station cash just laying around.

The thing is I don't know if I actually want to play a class until I test it out. I'd basically be forced to pay to test out a class. I will most likely buy them all anyways if I like the game but it will suck if I can't test a class out until level 10 or 20 before having to pay.

Ya very true... But I mean, I never played a paladin in EQ1, but I certainly paid for it in the initial box purchase, and then my monthly for 5+ years.

I'm worried gnomes and dwarves won't be in the game, and that's why they made Kobolds playable. When EQ was released it defined the genre. But now, after WoW's dominance since 2005, it is used as the standard. My fear is that SOE thinks new players will perceive those races as intrinsic to WoW, so won't include them in EQ. It'd be like putting Tauren in EQN.

I hope im wrong.

Btw..pretty sure AAs are in from the beginning? Maybe Flip can confirm that?

You can have all the bells and whistles you want. Bottom line is if the game is good they will come.. New players that are just learning about EQ will either do some research and figure out that these things were around before WoW or decide if they want to try based off reviews. It will be free so more likely they will just play the game.. Who cares what they identify it with as long as its fun an they keep playing.

I'm not backing down from evelight prediction. Without some kind of null sec with guild warfare I don't see a next gen sandbox. Engine was built for massive battles. Gnomes have to be in as small race for neutral faction to match halflings and kobolds.

For now I will take smed at his word and assume flip's dev is not in the black box. Note that evelight does not preclude player made pvp instances or dungeons.

Well the point of f2p game is that it's free for me to play. If I have to shell out $60 to even start a character that I want it's not very free anymore.

What if you can play any class but there are hard factions on race/class unless you pay?

See, that's the thing.

No company ever said free to play meant without limitations. Hell, I've had coupons for a free soda but I had to buy a burger and fries to get it.
