nope, not me, but a pretty fucking good question. apple is one of the top company's in the world, why the fuck would you not have your game released for it?
Probably because the vast majority of mac users don't use their macs for gaming(not counting things like facebook games etc).

To this day I still do not understand why Smed and staff dug in and didn't ditch EQ2's gawdawful combat system. The many, many bad design decisions for EQ2 as well as the nature of PS2 really kills any sense of optimism I have for this title.
During EoF/RoK it was brought up by some, maybe devs or players, don't remember. There were rumors about some skill consolidation (direly needed as my SK had something like 8 ae skills). At that point EQ2 had a small-ish healthy population of devoted fans to the game. Changing that game (5 years into it) attempting to get new subs, could have (and would likely have) alienated a lot of the existing playerbase. Even Scott Hartsman was of this idea if I remember correctly. It'd have been a NGE once again, with no guarantee on the end result.

I guess people lack reading comprehension when I stated I did not have all the info nor claimed to. Those folks on reddit aremore salty than some of you.
That's a bold statement. I think you're exaggerating, my friend.

I don't think they've talked about their composer yet. I wonder what Todd Masten's up to these days. His Vanguard soundtrack was extraordinary.

Nice didn't even remember VG had music or if I played with it, but listening to that stuff I did play with it and remember it. Certainly hope they make some good music, even though I might end up turning it off after a while, it's still a great part of a mmo.

True, but most players are sensitive to that path also. Just look at all the epic threads regarding P2W for every new mmo or every mmo that switched from the sub model.

Being able to buy gold doesn't make a game automatically P2W. You have to be able to buy an advantage at the endgame with it. As long as the best gear and power items etc are only available through gameplay then most players will give the cash shop a pass. And by and large that is the model most of the major mmos follow.

Some people consider cash shops of any kind to be P2W, but they are an extreme minority.
I'm not worried about P2W but another concern is that they might put too much of the cosmetics into the cash shop and too few attainable through play - imo a problem that plagues GW2.

Never played EVE but I do know it's FFA. I'm just suggesting that if EQN goes EVElike it will go EVElight with soft starting factions to limit PvP ganking in civilized areas: halflings won't be able to gank other halflings. Once you get to 0.0 it's FFA. Hopefully that makes some sense.

However, you may be right, no factions at all - just no PvP allowed in 'civilized' areas.
For me the holy grail would be faction hits for PVP kills. It solves the issue organically, and you dont need to make hard teams or invulnerability zones. You have consequences for PVP right out of the gate and dont need to impose artificial limits that take away the sandbox/world feel of the game. As long as guards in the immediate newbie areas are punishing enough and players are introduced to the consequences early, and repeat offenders would have ruined their faction in those areas making "newbie ganking" too much of an effort for most players. Just like in EVE. You CAN be PK'ed right after making your character. It's not doable with throw-away newbie characters because the kills takes too long and the guards kill the offender first, and with ships that alpha strike a newbie you're losing a certain amount of assets per kill because you die to guards. So players generally dont bother, and I think its a good setup.

You did notice the dwarf in the Firiona Vie artwork, right Quaid?
That painting isnt the best of clues for races imo, for one you have the leonin titan that's about dragon size, and then it was made to resemble the Keith Parkinson artwork from original EQ. Although I do hope dorfs are in. They are in most D&D settings and judging from the new kobold look and the rakshasa in the background they are going for a forgotten realms cross-over.

Not 1, not 2, but 3 WoW clones in your sandbox. This sounds like they took WoW, gw2, and Eve and put it in the oven to see what pops out.

combining the elite:

1.) instancing mmorpg WoW
2.) pvping mmorpg GW2
3.) sandbox mmorpg Eve

on the everquest foundation sounds like a great idea.

Apple may be a large company but personal computing isn't the primary focus. Macs make up like 5-10% of the home computer (notice i can't even call them personal computers?) market and maybe 5% of those actually play games (via boot camp). Its like complaining that ford is a large company so why arent they designing the game to run on my touch screen navigation console in my new ford focus.

Edit: quoted wrong guy but whatev.

I think it's safe to say the upside of simply dumping EQ2s combat system and putting EQs on top would far outweigh the NGE perception. My guess is the technical limitations of the game prevented it. Their heroic system was awful, and the skill bloat made it obvious whoever designed the game didn't actually play MMOs, just did some market research and tried to be smart.

Not dumping their combat system either was technical issues or simple cowardice. If I were Smed I'd profess the former and not the latter.
