If they didn't make the mistake of making more than one, absolutely. Count me in.I bet those servers would be pretty popular actually

If you have a day / night cycle that affects gameplay then it needs to be faster than the real world day / night cycle, otherwise some people are only going to be playing at night (or in the day). IIRC there was a village in WoW vanilla where the villagers turned into Werewolves at night, things like that you want everyone to have a chance at seeing. This has always bugged me when companies skimp on the world aspects of Day/Night/Weather. If EQ can do it in 1999, everyone should be able to have done it in the last 10+ years of game launches.
I remember Blizzard saying they waited on this to get it right (supposedly adding some play mechanics to it as well) and well, there isn't any reason after weather came out why it just wasn't in the game to begin with.
Back to EQ Next - Die-Hard EQ players from the past that love the difficulty of corpse runs and XP Loss will love their Hardcore Server.
I think it will also depend on the classes and their abilities. Assuming UT is being real that leads me to think there are classes that can be used for CR's similar to EQ. What say you UT?If they didn't make the mistake of making more than one, absolutely. Count me in.
Yeah I am guessing they will be. I will probably play on one of those initially just to see if I can take the challenge and go back to the old days. A few rumored features:I bet those servers would be pretty popular actually
Yeah I totally agree. EQ's Day/Night cycle was, been a while, about 1.5 hours or so? And as a human you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. One reason I made a Dark Elf. But that had consequences because I was hated everywhere, but at the expense of having inherent ultravision. That was a simple choice. Avoid Sergeant Slate, or not see.If you have a day / night cycle that affects gameplay then it needs to be faster than the real world day / night cycle, otherwise some people are only going to be playing at night (or in the day). Not sure how they are addressing it in the game itself. I just know the format for some of the features of the rule set unfortunately.I think it will also depend on the classes and their abilities. Not sure what that last one is about.. I guess to force travel.. Even EQ didn't have cooldown on ports. The regular server must not have much travel time.Yeah I am guessing they will be. 1) XP Loss
2) Corpse Retrieval (Not sure how they do this in an instance)
3) Much longer cooldowns on port's (Debuff countdown) whether player given or self (item or spell) (hours)
If I had to guess it's least common denominator rule set changing. Easier travel throughout Norrath using various quality of life tools, and rather than taking those out - (which may be inherently buried in the code) having an ability to alter debuff timers on player characters or longer CD's on player held items/spells.Not sure what that last one is about.. How difficult the various levels of challenge are? Probably the only answer aside from just living in a game world ala animal crossing. What's the impetus beyond challenge? Genuine question.
