Many of us have been waiting for something different and have had to wade through all kinds of MMOs that have only been tweaks of the underlying level/gear/content progression that MMOs like EQ1 were built on. And even SOE with EQ2 blew a lot of smoke up people's collective asses about EQ2 being new, different, etc etc etc. In some ways it was, but in others not so much.

All we have right now is some whispered hype that hasn't been remotely confirmed as of yet. "Sandbox" has been tossed about a lot, but right now you know what that really means? Nothing. And frankly SOE is going to have to prove quite a bit to people if they really expect people to believe that EQN is really all that revolutionary.

edit: Where did you get the 6.5 number from? There are 5 one hour panels on Saturday and 1 one hour panel on Sunday.

I was going from memory, and forgot that the "World" panel was on Friday as well. They've shifted the schedules around a bit, but I remember reading that the total time at SOE live allocated for EQN was 8-8.5 hours though.

SoE really hasn't done very much marketing or hyping of EQN, the truth is most of the hype has been manufactured by an overly hopeful blue-balled MMO community falling for it again. And a year from reveal to release is a perfectly normal marketing timeframe for an mmo.

It's fast even. The hype is really big in the MMO community that follows every new project that springs up, but the mainstream damn sure aren't actively aware of its existence (99 percent of which will also have no idea what SOE Live is). Whatever, hopefully we'll find something out Friday, but any real hype is going to take a bigger stage than word of mouth, a couple forums and SOE Live.
