Amen to that.Has long it doesnt have acheivements.
Fuck acheivements, theyre the cancer of gaming.
I was surprised to hear about it for an Everquest game, If done right it could be really amazing. It just depends on the freedom they gave the designer for not only the maps but also game types. If you can create new gametypes then that would be something.player-made battlegrounds is one of the worst mmo concepts i've ever heard. i have no hope for this game after hearing that bullshit.
I had to explain what SOE live was to a friend last night, and he played EQ with me for 4 years. It's fast even. The hype is really big in the MMO community that follows every new project that springs up, but the mainstream damn sure aren't actively aware of its existence (99 percent of which will also have no idea what SOE Live is). Whatever, hopefully we'll find something out Friday, but any real hype is going to take a bigger stage than word of mouth, a couple forums and SOE Live.
This x10000. I'm so tired of hearing ppl cry about how they've grown up and RL is too busy for video games. I can guaranfuckingtee that if the game is awesome all those people will MAKE time for it. Stop wishing the game to be an instant gratification pile of shit just cause you're too busy for a real game. It's hilarious to read all of the "I don't have the time to play a game like EQ again" and "my real life is so full of things that video games don't matter to me." Please. If a game is good people will make time. And if you are participating in this particular forum- an extension/reiteration of one of the most game-obsessed communities that existed- you, by definition, give so many more shits about games than 99.99% of the population.
The dude that supposedly has cancer even wants to play the shit out of a good game.
http://www.rerolled.org/showthread.p...017#post297017where was player made bg's mentioned? Link?
I can see how people are skeptical but I think of it in terms of UT2K3, only the good maps became popular and the rest fell to the wayside. Sure we will have to wade through some shit for a little while but the good map makers will rise to the top and then potentially it's and endless cycle of new content.I was surprised to hear about it for an Everquest game, If done right it could be really amazing. It just depends on the freedom they gave the designer for not only the maps but also game types. If you can create new gametypes then that would be something.
Yeah this line of thinking annoys the shit outta me.. If people don't have as much time to invest into a certain game, then play another game that is more gratifying to play in small amounts. As if everything in life should be catering to their needs..It's hilarious to read all of the "I don't have the time to play a game like EQ again" and "my real life is so full of things that video games don't matter to me." Please. If a game is good people will make time. I barely touched EQ and only 1 out of the 15 or so friends who were all eq raiders even knew eq next was a thing.I had to explain what SOE live was to a friend last night, and he played EQ with me for 4 years.
Thanks, I did read this but for some reason missed that specific part and read it as player made dungeons that are instanced rather than pvp/BG's.
These idiots (and MMORPG.com) and a lot of others are unfortunately in the back pockets of the organizations. The one you references has zero credibility and I cannot believe anyone would even visit the place.https://www.tentonhammer.com/feature...untdown-begins
Well ok, quoting.
At this point some of the sites are waging whatever reputation they have on this reveal.
This is basically what I was saying. Sadly, gone are the days of decent FPS communities.I'd rather think along the lines of some player-made Minecraft content, than some kid's third attempt at making some FPS map. There's some very impressive stuff out there that players are willing to make for free, if they love the game and tools are provided for them to do it. Depending on the scale, that could draw people to the game that are 1) more interested in designing content and the notoriety that comes with it than playing the game themselves, and 2) better at developing content than people on the actual development team.
Here is the main thing with SOE.If the game comes out and it's amazing the word will spread like wildfire. They won't have to advertise it. It'll be posted about on countless community/guild forums and its F2P so many many people will download it just to test the waters. There's no risk (imo) of the game being awesome but people not hearing about it. That's just silly to even think about in this day and age.
These sites say stupid shit like this about games all the time. They hype up everything, SWTOR, TSW, etc.https://www.tentonhammer.com/feature...untdown-begins
