etchazz: Impossible to say currently on class speculation with a limit of 8 abilities per class (4/4 split thing) that makes it pretty much impossible to micromanage into a single class - especially with 40 classes to toss into the mix and more coming all the time... and additional abilities being added per class consistently, new items that buff a given ability ad nauseum.

Done right it can be amazing.

This is a responsibility that we created as game developer and we are abandoning it, we are not going to put players through that, we have seen the damage it has caused over the past 15 years and we are moving past it with this design."

We can all play this game. You are taking one point (an opinion no less) and SLAMMING it down our throats every chance you get.
Not really, I am just the only one with an opposing view and as always, people here can't handle it. You just happen to be on the wrong side this time so you are going full asshole.

You have no real opinion based on anything except 'that lion looks like other stylized non realistic lions in pop culture, and I wanted it to look like something out of the fucking savannah'.
1) It looks like a pixar kids movie
2) The players killed 50 mobs in 2 seconds
3) You can parkour over obstacles without even pressing anything
4) The combat animations are all about looking cool and killing everything with one spell.
5) This is obviously just another dumbed down game for kids. The only way this is different to Rift and WoW and everything else, is the user created content and bigger emphasis on none quest grind stuff.

Nope you don't care. You are just another one of these people who claims to like realistic graphics and hardcore gameplay, but when it really comes to the crunch, your true colors show. You don't give a shit. You will play anything.

It's just that the rest of us realize that the inclusion of certain features made that NOT possible, and that the inclusion of said features is far more important to the success of the game than what the lion actually looks like.
I've already said 10 times, I could live with the horrible disney graphics and massive shoulder pads. That's just the way it looks, the way it plays is far more important. But to think the gameplay style will not match the graphics style, is totally naive.

They wanted the world to be created from voxels, how realistic could the world be and keep system specs reasonable while still including this (awesome) feature?

You could use voxels and a realistic style without changing the frame rates by 1fps. That's a bad excuse. They chose to make it look like a kids cartoon, because that is who they are aiming this game at. You can delude yourself but stop trying to delude me.

Tldr: we fucking know what you are saying, and probably even agree with you, but you are arguing with no auxiliary data like some kind off pissed of woman.

And stop claiming to agree with me, clearly you don't. There are no 2 ways about it. Everything this game stands for, goes completely against everything people like me want to see in an MMO.

Most likely everyone that did that will be bugged and never get accepted lol. I signed up on 6 accounts and 3 of them said I had already registered and 3 of them said I hadn't And I did them all at the same time.

I wouldn't believe the hype about any emergent AI stuff until you see it. Does anyone know how much of that stuff they have tested out yet or is it all just conceptual right now.
Emergent AI like they're talking about already has existed for years in primitive form - Ultima Online had a basic version for Christ's sake.

It's not some impossible challenge. Quite possible they'll screw it up - but its not unlikely they could pull it off either.

Games just have failed to implement it well.
the sad part is, they used to. just everyone seems to have forgotten how. They have gotten so lazy with false aggro.

Encounters themselves need to be rethought from the ground up. Too many people have gotten into a one tract mindset for both design and playstyle.

hybridization and specialization are NOT mutually exclusive.

GW2. mesmer portals. this is an example of it working properly. The problem in GW2 is not that mesmer portals are raid breaking, its that no one else has tools that are that awesome.
Engineer mortars should have worked like supply mortars. been fucking DEADLY, to doors/walls, etc.
Maybe thiefs should have been able to sneak into keeps legit.

GW2 also failed at have real good class interactions with boons and the like. the buff/auras, etc were not as meaningful as they should have been. AOE quickness was great. aoe Stability, great. Needed more of that, and less passive +might that EVERYONE gets.
Diablo2 is still the high bar for hybrid class design and interaction. That is kindof sad really. necros providing bone shields, or minion shields, or breaking immunities, or iron maidens, etc.. Barb shouts, paladin auras.
Each class even providing different and stacking buffs. Again, GW2 having everyone give the same buffs. huge mistake.

Yes, because an early alpha of the game = launch optimized client. Stop with the fucking doom and gloom already. If you want to play EQ1 again play it in it's current iteration or go play P1999...

So we are limited to 8 abilities but I assume we will have items aglore as well? Have they discussed clickly items at all? Especially since EQ1 had a plethora of in combat and out of combat clickies maybe they will use this approach to add alittle complexity to things. Lets be honest, even though most of us are tied of the 45 different abilities you need to play most MMO's 8 total buttons might make us go abit crazy.

With good reason - on a small screen that style of art allows expression to show, which is clearly a big deal to them with SOEMote. My vision is amazing and for FACIAL emotes I've always had a hard time making them out if I'm not on top of the person even if the best animated MMO.

Covered recently by tad10 - combat won't be that pace or level of destruction normally it was a tech demo.

Well I should also say that for all you people bitching at me for not liking what they presented - there are two people who secretly supported me with the rep thing. I also noticed a serious lack of enthusiasm during the presentation. And I would bet ANY amount of money, that there will be a LOT more pissed off people once it finally dawns on some of you slow coaches what the truth about this game really is.

And not just that, but I would bet that as with Rift, GW2, Warhammer, AoC, and pretty much every none WoW game I've played in the past 13 years.... a few months after release, those of you who right now would defend this game to your death, will be bored shitless of it and looking for something else.

You people are your own worst enemies. I can understand from stupid kids who are new to all this, but from MMO vets? Fucking shameful.

I've been poopsocking p99 longer than you played eq1 senior. You will see, with forelight + multilevel zones+ environment destruction you will be hurting. Just because you can't see whats below the ground doesn't mean your system doesn't. The only thing that will save the lag somewhat is the cartoony graphics, so having that will help out. With that type of multi level rendering you might want to think twice.
